About 45 days ago I was lucky enough to be chosen at random by Nevada DMV to send them proof of insurance on my motor home.
I did just what they asked and returned the form using the provided pre-addressed envelope with my insurance info attached the same day I received their request.
Fast forward to now;
We were all set to head out on a nice weekend yesterday when lo and behold, the mailman rang our doorbell to deliver me a registered letter from Nevada DMV.
The letter informed me that my motor home registration is hereby cancelled because they never received their damn envelope back. Naturally DMV here is closed on Saturday, so there went our weekend, right down the
Now, even though my RV has been insured the whole time and I have the proof, I still have to pay a $250.00 reinstatement fee and wait for about 6 months for them to sort out the mess and refund my money. The local DMV office cannot do a damn thing to fix it because the bureaucrats in Carson City have to hold a hearing on the matter.
I went through the same mess 5 years ago over my Bronco, all because those jerks have their heads up their
If I could could get away with it, I'd just walk in their office tomorrow and tune them up.

| Quote (GlassMan @ June 13 2005,8:44 am) | Saying that the DMV sucks is certainly redundant. I know that alot of people go to the AAA office specifically to avoid the DMV....
Well, I went to AAA to register a new car last week.....I got the eery feeling that some of the people working there were DMV rejects!
Hope you get your "Issues" resolved......maybe you should register it in AZ for the time being. |
It isn't any better here either.
They pulled the same stunt with me a couple months ago. I proved to them that I hadn't let the insurance lapse, but was told that I would still have to pay the "re-instatemant" fee for the registration. I went to the insurance office and explained what was going on. My agent called the DMV, chatted for a few minutes, and then said there was nothing more to worry about, my registration had been re-instated, no fees required.
Good luck Bob.
