O.K. so I spot some boat stuff on E-Bay. The seller says he has other boat stuff for sale. I contact him and arrange to buy a drive from him.

The drive arrives and I notice that it has signs of corrosion and they had bondoed the rear cover on. i called the guy who tells the drive is fine, and he had a guy look at it before it left. I take his word for it and install it on the boat and head for Havazoo.

Within a couple of miles in the water, the unit has issues. I put the boat back on the trailer, where it continues to leak all of the gear lube out through the lower seals.

Contacted the guy and he says he will help with repairs or refund the money and take the drive back. I had an estimate done to reseal the whole drive,$556, to which he offers to pay to reseal just the lower,$300.

I decided to send the unit back. Now I can't get the guy to respond to IM's, E-Mail, or phone calls.

Now the question, where should I go from here?? Any thoughts??

I didn't buy it directly off of EBAy , but from a guy that sells stuff there with a note that he has other boat stuff for sale. I payed CC through Paypal. Anybody in Little Rock,Arkansas??

I've heard of a way to reverse the charges thru PayPal. I've seen some negative feedback from sellers that were pissed. But the buyers said they sold them crap not as advertised. Ck out PayPal's site. Since you bypassed Ebay they will be no help. Maybe I'll f around with him a bit on some of his other auctions just out of spite :comp  :fight  :beat  :D

Well you might be able to file a complaint with PayPal under the "PayPal Buyer Protection" Here is the link to check out and to see if you can qualify for that protection. Just make sure to keep copies of all the emails that went back and forth between you and the seller because they will be required to be forwarded to PayPal to have the issue resolved. It is a place to start.  Good Luck

Yeah definiatly try that as well, they might be able to reverse the charges but they might have a problem with the fact you bought an item from a third party(seller a non-business owner) through a third party payment system (PayPal) with your credit card.  I had a similar problem last year and my credit card company said they couldnt help me so I  had to deal directly with paypal to get it resolved.

I have had very good luck getting refunds through PayPal and the Credit Card Co. I use my DiscoverCard exclusively for the higher value purchases through PayPal instead of my bank account.
When I had a problem, I called & emailed both the CC and Paypal.

Paypal jumped right in and put a hold on the funds in the guy's Paypal account (which pissed him off royaly, but he couldn't do a thing). You have to get his attention  :stupid

It's a fact of Life:

After Monday and Tuesday, even the Calendar says : WTF .......

I've got this guy that owes me $8.00 for an item for over a month and he keeps saying he's going to pay about once a week :beat He has like 8 feed backs and 2 negatives all ready, he's about to have 3 :flamed

PayPal dispute is good way to start :good they do a good job getting your money back :good

Good luck, it usually only takes about 10 days to get the money back this way.  How much time between you bought and the dispute is important

Looks like things may work out. He said that he'll send the money to my PayPal acct. as soon as they finish the verification process. Then I'll get in touch with him to send a truck to come get this thing!! Keeping my fingers crossed.

The original drive is at Extreme Marine here in Phoenix.  They are trying to save what they can out of it and building another drive for me.

It Lives again!! The guys over at Extreme Marine Gott'er all fixed up!! The old drive is nothing more than a large paper weight!! They built a new/used unit and installed a new lower shift cable,now it's ready to go again!! :jumpie   :good   :D
