LAKE HAVASU, Ariz.
There’s been another nasty boating accident on Lake Havasu.

Mohave County Waterway Deputies responded to the scene of a boating accident Sunday evening on Lake Havasu. The boat’s operator, Kaytlin Jarvis, of Lake Havasu City was towing Noah Molina, also of Lake Havasu City, when Molina fell off the tube into the water. Mohave County spokesperson Trish Carter explains.

“The operator turned the boat around and ran over the victim with the boat the propeller, and struck the victim in the abdomen,” said Carter. “The victim was transported into the Lake Havasu Regional Medical Center in critical condition and later air lifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas.”

According to a family friend visiting him at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Molina is now in stable condition.

Update:
KINGMAN, Ariz. – Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has identified the woman that was transported to University Medical Center in Las Vegas following a boat accident on Lake Havasu last Saturday.

“Her name is Catherine Lynn Bailey, age 42, of Lake Havasu City. She remains in critical condition at UMC,” said Sheriff’s spokes person Trish Carter.

Fifteen people were involved in the accident that took place at 1:15 a.m. June 25. Killed in the crash was Guy Lane Sutterfield, 41, of Quartz Hill, Calif. The others were treated and released for minor injuries. Cause of the crash remains under investigation but alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

That makes more sence...  but during daylight is even worse :(

Deifinatly inexperience at work!  Even so, thats hard to accomplish without shutting off the motor in time.  Better to clock the person with the boat then chop them up.

That was always me fear when I was wakeboarding... getting my feet up in the prop on a v drive :eek (and ya I know there is a neutral)

A rule I use:

If anyone is out of the boat in the water or getting in/getting out of the boat, the engine is off... period.  I don't care if it's a jet, a v-drive, a whacker, or a stern drive.

Cuts down on the visits to the e-room...

Now running over the skiier/tuber is just plain stupid and like has been said, inexperiance at work...

That shouldn't just be a rule of thumb but a manditory action by all boat owners/drivers. :good
I saw a new product at my Regatta this past week I thought was awesome..its called a Virtual Lifeline. Everyone in the boat gets a device attached to them so in the event someone falls overboard is is simply swimming around in the water the boat will stop running or not start...basically its a wireless lanyard but it applies to all peeps in the boat. :good  :good

How did that work?  I think it would have to be pretty reliable and not give a false reading during critical times and shut the motor off unexpectedly.

Sounds like a pretty cool item.  Was it a bracelet type thing or what?  Are they available now?  How much?

Either way, technology never replaces common sense and clear thinking.  I got that damn back-up alarm on the Escalade.  Hate it.

I didn't acually touch it but it appears to be a small transponder like pod, like button sized, that you wear and the other hardware is hooked up to the ignition system.
I believe MSRP was somewhere around $500.

Even an ineperienced operator should have enough common sense to know that you're not supposed to run over people.
