Thanks everyone for your concern. Â I've had back pain for a couple of months. Â Even though I've been very careful with it, it's got progressively worse. Â I tried to set up a doctor appointment before OP6C-IX, but scheduling problems at work made it difficult. Â When I tried to make an appointment on Monday, my doctor sent me to the E.R. Â Evidently, there were a couple of clues indicating there was an underlying problem causing the back pain. Â They did an EKG, a CAT scan, and a blood test. Â My blood had some issues though. Â The E.R. doctor suggested I have a Creatine test. Â I guess my kidneys have been overworked. Â I will set up physical therapy tomorrow and have a bone scan in a few weeks. Â That's when they inject radioactive material in you and scan your body. Â In my case the material they will use targets bones. Â In the meantime, I'm taking muscle relaxers and Vicodin, which seems to help alot.

Doug, Hope you get better soon. Jaime (Doorman) had major surgery on his back a few years back. He was in alot of pain and the doctors had to remove a disc in his spine. (made him a inch shorter).

Doug,
I really do hope you begin to feel better soon. I know it sounds like a real chore to have all these tests done, but it's best to find out whats really going on inside and create a game plan to fix it.
I went though similar tests and because of the doctors being able to accurately see what was happening, I'm alive today to talk about it.
You are in my prayers.

Thanks Bob. Hopefully it's just muscle spasms and nothing more.

I assume your doctor recommended icing it for 10-15 minutes at a time. If not, your PT will and start right away. Having slipped a disc twice, I can say that the ice works incredibly well. It takes whatever inflammation there is pinching those nerves down a little. Are you still working or did you get some time off? Knowing the grocery industry I'm pretty sure you're going to say still working. LOL

The thing that I used to have to tell myself is that "If I am not there, the store will not fall down. It will be still be standing and making money while I'm gone." Â They don't want to lose you, I'm sure, but they'll get over it. Â They'll transfer someone in, promote someone to bookkeeper, or do whatever it takes. Â Do what is best for you so that you can avoid surgery. Â That is the most important thing.
