Someone got in and tapped one of my accounts for about 3 Big Ones..... Wells Fargo caught it right away and called to inquire... Had to close out two accounts and spend most of the day tracing down stuff...
Apparently they have had a rash of issues lately...possibly an inside database theft. If you don't regularly review / change your online password & ATM Pin info, think about it now.
Don't due ANY UPDATES ON-LINE; go to the bank or do it over the phone. Banks, Investments, PayPal, etc.
Regularly run your Anti-Virus / Internet Security software. Spend the money for good, solid applications like Norton, MacAfee, etc., including a solid firewall. Don't trust those on-line "Anti-Spyware" tools; they are garbage....
Just my (ripped-off) 2 cents....

You are so right!
Usually I receive those phony "update your info" regarding PayPal, eBay or Citi Bank, but just the other day I got one supposedly from Wells Fargo.
It smelled right away because the email address I received the request from Wells Fargo on has NEVER BEEN SUBMITTED to them by me.
Just for shits and giggles I did check out the web page and sure as all get out it looked EXACTLY like Wells Fargo's home page, however the IP in the address bar was not Wells Fargo.
I forwarded the email to Wells Fargo's fraud dept and copied the return path info in an attachment so they can trace it.
Wells Fargo did indeed email me back and confirmed it was bogus.

I got one of those ameils from Wells Fargo too. I gave them all my account info also. Only problem for them is that I don't have a WF account.

What I have found recently through conversation with friends, is if you use P2P networks/software you are vulnerable. Just for the hell of it, if you do use LimeWire, Kaza, etc. type "tax return" in the search window and you'll see how foolish people really are. From there you can pick up SS#, address, b-day, account #'s if they do electronic filing, etc. Kinda scary.

I've tried just about all of them and Lime Wire and Kaaza got to be the worse, Kaaza being the worst of all And any of those programs has a shitload of folders picked out as default to share, you need to deselect all of them. I found Warez to be a good one, it has only one item and when you install the program you do it manually and deselect it and you don't have any problems!. Also another way to be safe is to build a junker like I did and have nothing of value on it, and it's a good way to test e-mails that don't look right, get some interesting stuff that way!..

Yeah I have WinMX too and it is pretty good not putting garbage on your computer, still have to install it manually though(at least the older version). The only thing I found about it is the search results weren't as good as the others, it's been a while since I used it though, maybe better now???
