Hello all, I just purchased a 95 Carrera 202XR, I bought it in San Diego, and the registration numbers were painted on the side, any tips on removing them so I can put my AZ numbers on. Thanks all.

Sounds like Graffiti remover is the hot stuff for taking numbers off gel coat.

Remember that gel coat is pretty tuff stuff, it's kind of hard to hurt it to bad.

I had the guy from Hallett repaint my number and name. He used easyoff oven cleaner on my 210 to remove the paint.  He said it takes everything off but does not hurt the gelcoat.  It maid me a little nervous but it looks great and can't see any problems

thumbs up on the oven cleaner..... it will take paint of the boat ... off the trailer..... off the grage floor if it drips. Spray on let sit foamy for about 20 to 25 minutes wipe clean.... re apply if you didn't get it all the first time.

I may have to try the oven cleaner on my boat as well. The name is slowly comming off of the back, and I should just take it the rest of the way off.

Thanks everyone, I was going to try wet sanding it off and buffing it out, your way sounds alot easier, I was a little worried because the numbers are right over all the multicolor graphics.
