It doesn't matter which, nothing seems to be simple here lately.  :banghead

So BC gives me a ring yesterday. "The cars making a funny noise, listen......." "But it goes away with the AC off" So I tell her its probably a belt and I'll ck it when I get home.

So she calls back a little later and tells me the alternator light is on and she is hearing more noises.  :( She takes a peek under the hood and it kicked the belt off the alternator :break I told her I'd get belts for it and put'em  on when I get home.

Well I start putting the belts on and I start looking at the crank pulley, and the gawd damn pulley is gone off the front of the damper :angry I'm dead in the water till I get parts.

That makes me a taxi driver this morning, take her to work and then off to the county yard.

Parts are in hand as of now, just need to put it together :break

Can ya give a brotha a break :D

No.

Brother Sleek's AC unit literally blew up on the way back from Phoenix the other day.  Second brand new compressor in less than 3 months.  :eek

Here's your sharp stick... have fun. :D  :beat

These were brand new GM compressors, right from Watson Cheverolet... one lasted 2 weeks, the other a couple months.  And this is after he replaced everything in the system.

I think it's the Chinese shit that GM is making now...  :beat

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I just had a new compressor installed on my Bullitt. 40,000 miles is all the old one lasted. :angry Thank God for extended warranty. :good

GM's not the only one using cheap shit, Ford pioneered this years before. :beat I kept having to rebuild the gearboxes on my Ford tow trucks because bearings I was buying from the dealer kept failing. I finally noticed they were all stamped "Made in Taiwan". :stupid I started buying nothing but Timkin and BCA bearings and have never had another failure. :)

You most likely have some crap in the system, may be clogging the orfice and cause way to much pressure. If a hose doesn't let go then the compressor does. Been there done that :banghead

You really should upgrade the important person in your life out of that '74 Vega and into something nice KC...like maybe a 76 Pacer... :bebe
j/k...it sucks to be you right now under the hood in the heat :( . Those vibration dampners tend to give out more in the heat, we'd get a rash of them in summer.

I feel bad for her :(  she downgraded from a Millenia about a year ago to an older MX6. But we made a pact a while back to live within our means for a while :good If I keep dragging her to the lake in my POS truck I'll bet that will get upgraded first :D  :jumpie

You mention Pacers and Vegas, when we first moved to Tucson about 20+ years ago. One of our cars was a Gremlin :laugh

Gremlins are ok...friends brothers had a pair of them that were 11 second street cars, the other brother had a Hornet that did low 9's with the bottle. To say they shocked a few people was an understatement :eek  :laugh
All were daily drivers too.....before Ca. cracked down on smog
