So BC gives me a ring yesterday. "The cars making a funny noise, listen......." "But it goes away with the AC off" So I tell her its probably a belt and I'll ck it when I get home.
So she calls back a little later and tells me the alternator light is on and she is hearing more noises.  She takes a peek under the hood and it kicked the belt off the alternator I told her I'd get belts for it and put'em  on when I get home.
Well I start putting the belts on and I start looking at the crank pulley, and the gawd damn pulley is gone off the front of the damper I'm dead in the water till I get parts.
That makes me a taxi driver this morning, take her to work and then off to the county yard. Â
Parts are in hand as of now, just need to put it together  Â
Can ya give a brotha a break |
No.
Brother Sleek's AC unit literally blew up on the way back from Phoenix the other day. Second brand new compressor in less than 3 months.
Here's your sharp stick... have fun.

These were brand new GM compressors, right from Watson Cheverolet... one lasted 2 weeks, the other a couple months. And this is after he replaced everything in the system.
I think it's the Chinese shit that GM is making now...

You most likely have some crap in the system, may be clogging the orfice and cause way to much pressure. If a hose doesn't let go then the compressor does. Been there done that

You really should upgrade the important person in your life out of that '74 Vega and into something nice KC...like maybe a 76 Pacer... j/k...it sucks to be you right now under the hood in the heat . Those vibration dampners tend to give out more in the heat, we'd get a rash of them in summer.

I feel bad for her  she downgraded from a Millenia about a year ago to an older MX6. But we made a pact a while back to live within our means for a while If I keep dragging her to the lake in my POS truck I'll bet that will get upgraded first Â
You mention Pacers and Vegas, when we first moved to Tucson about 20+ years ago. One of our cars was a Gremlin |
And it sounds like you still have a few of those little devils running around
