I still can't understand how they get away with this crap, car was a good car, perfect for Shaun. Then some ahole plows him and they give you ACV for a car that you have to replace which will cost you about 3 times that. Where as if the accident never happened you would have nothing to worry about :guns  :fight  :beat  :flamed

They will try to low ball you the first time around. What is the fiar market value of the car?? I look at what they are asking for them in auto trader and advertisments. I took ads to the Ins. adjuster and told them what I wanted for the car. I got it.

Find as much info as you can that would relate to actually having to replace the car with a like quantity as others have said above. Written estimates from used car lots indicating what a car in the same condition would sell for, and so on....you can work 'em and get a much better settlement...Had to do that recently with one of my company cars that got hit by a "Progressive Insured" driver.
Good luck Kev.

I went thru the same shit with a brand new car and I got FKD big time!.. What they do is pro rate it, when you first insure it they take note of the mileage, then if you total it they look at the mileage and pro rate it just like a fkn battery and it sucks big time!.. :angry

Isn't it amazing how all this extra stress ;) causes Shaun's "pain and suffering" to increase as the car's value decreases?

I know the more I stress out, the more expensive I can make it for insurance companies. :guns

If it's got a straight 6,  4.0 HO.  :good  :good  Those are good motors.  Kind of archaich, but they do a fantastic job in a Jeep/

I don't know what kind of policy you have.....heck I don't even know what kind I have without pulling it out, but I did a real nice job on a Carrera I once owned. Needed a spatula to move it.

The Ins. Co. tried the same BS - wanted to total it and send me a check.

I told them,"No way! Fix it!" They balked, but they did it The job took 3 months or more and the car came out pretty damn nice.

ins. co.s use a 85% so if it cost more than 85% of the value of the car they total it. the way around it is to get an estimate less than that. and then add what they call supplements for hidden damage, but thats tough the estimators are pretty good at figuring that in. if they have already totaled it you need to prove the worth of the car for you cash value less the buy back.

Car value battle starts again today, adjuster was vacationing. Kido is doing ok, he has an appointment at the Eagle tomorrow. The adjuster that was doing the personel injury side of the claim was a jackass to him so told him to F off :guns  talk to my lawyer :fight

From what I can tell Farmers has all ready accepted liability on the accident so it should be pretty painless as far as a settlement goes.

Oh I can throw that killer sound system in if you'd like...but it currently is not installed...right now it's working with the stock stero system that came with the Jeep :)

As for the 4X4 question...yes it is 4X4 and it's a V8 :)
