Place looks nice...condos/townhomes next year...

LAUGHLIN, Nev. - It was big and long awaited step Thursday morning, when the ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the brand new Laughlin Bay Marina. Sam Wacht the architect and managing member of Colorado River Marina that developed the project spoke about the marina's significance to the area.
"It's created an excitement, this is the only major new project built in Laughlin since Harrah's was completed in, I think, 1990," said Sam Wacht.
Cost of the development is estimated at about $300 million

Not so fast guys....a marina needs boats and boats need water. Think about it.

A Major development that, by virtue of its very nature, needs an ample amount of water to survive. They have a vested interest in seeing to it that the river is navigable. Casino bucks behind a regular dredging schedule would be fine by me.

Anyone who has ever launched into the river when it's running hard will sure appreciate a sheltered marina to launch in.

I think its long overdue.

they wont raise the river level so it means cold fast moving river water. the way the river is in Laughlin is narrow and somewhat shallow. I hope it works maybe they can draw people away from other parts of the river. but I haven't been to Laughlin in years so my memory may be bad.

Well I wasn't thinking they would raise the level...more like lower the bottom!

Anyway, if you check out the site you have to agree to a disclaimer before you can even download a boat slip/storage application. The disclaimer has all the usual about the ever-changing water level and says they won't guarantee access to the river through their channel at all times!

Looks nice though.

casino are involved, which means money, and with enough money it could happen. the whole fact that Laughlin is on the map proves of that.

That building is next to an area known as the back bay. It is not on the river, there is a bay between it and the river. As it is now, there is no motorized boat travel allowed in the wetlands area of the bay. You can enter the bay (if you know where it is  :D ) and there are a few nice beaches before you hit the wetlands area. Sure hope it stays that way......
