TRI-STATE - A two-year effort has produced a document to guide recreational development and opportunities over a significant stretch of the Colorado river, as well as Lake Havasu. Two teams of experts worked to complete a 60 page report focusing on the river and lake between Davis and Parker Dams. Project consultant Bob Aukerman said they used a national system to inventory existing recreation and future recreation opportunity all along the river.
"We looked at the physical settings. We looked at how the areas are being managed. We looked at how that whole stretch of river is being used," Aukerman said. "And we compared them to see if there were any inconsistencies between how it's being managed, how it's being used and how it fits within the whole environment."
The final product has no legal teeth or power. Instead it is viewed as a tool to help the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and others who have various levels of authority so far as regulation of recreation along the river. "They're hoping to be able to use the document as a framework for future management decisions and planning," Aukerman said. "They have a feel for pretty much every inch of that river as they've mapped it and put areas into classifications."
An example of an inconsistency, Aukerman explained, is the river revelers hotspot known as the Blankenship Bend sandbar. He said it has been classified as "primitive" so far as recreational amenities, yet it has an inconsistent "urban" use given the masses that congregate there.
Other inconsistencies noted in the report include varying speed limits applied to similar bodies or stretches of water, or varying fees for similar services at different locations. Aukerman explained agencies can use the inventory and other factors detailed in the document to minimize inconsistencies as recreational development occurs over time.
Looks primitive to me...

I am of the opinion that Havasu needs much more accessable shoreline beach areas....
