Havasu says crowds good, no problems
LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. - Labor Day weekend is over and the city appears pleased with the outcome.
"There's been no major incidents and no injury accidents this weekend," said police Lt. Rich Sloma .
The concern that gas prices would weaken the weekend crowed seems to have been unfounded. Dallas Finch Manager of Kokomo's Nightclub in the English Village said that his business stayed busy.
"I haven't got all the numbers in yet as far as revenue goes, but as far as the amount of people goes we were surprised the kept rolling in late, late, late," said Finch.
Other business owners in the area confirmed the opinion that the Labor Day weekend was as busy as any other despite the elevated fuel prices.

The true reason no major incidents occurred:

The cost of gasoline has about doubled in recent months, after plans had been made. So pour big bucks into the truck to pull the boat 250 - 300 miles, then pour more big bucks into the not very fuel efficient boat (daily) and remember to keep enough additional big bucks to pour into the truck for the return trip home.
Being this was factored into the buget before the drastic increase in fuel prices, and few priorities top gasoline, there were very few bucks left for libations.

Sober boaters...what a concept !    :hitit
