On the westbound I-84 up in Idaho this morning some cattle truck had either a brake or tire catch on fire. The driver pulled onto the shoulder, disconnected the tractor from the trailer so it wouldn't burn up. Sounds good so far, right?

Well it was still dark and Mr. Truckdriver opened the back doors and let out his load of Black Angus cows, and needless to say, all hell broke loose. Several cars hit several cows, one RV was competely demolished and another car hit a cow, flipped and rolled 5 or 6 times.

No one was seriously hurt thank goodness, but I believe Mr. Bullwagon driver is in deep doo-doo.

I rolled through about 1/2 hour after this all went down and it was a huge mess.

Here's the story with pics!

I'd say he was in a tough spot. Let the cattle burn or set them free?? Maybe he should have hurded them to the side some how??  :stupid

This was in a mostly flat area where you don't need to use brakes, so I doubt he was riding them.

Personally, I think he freaked :eek because letting Black Angus cows loose, IN THE DARK and ON THE FREEWAY is just outright stupid. :beat Especially when the cows are already excited over the fire. Ain't no way you will be able to wrangle them.

I've almost hit Black Angus on open ranges because you just can't see them until you're right on top of them.

Cow killer!

(any Oh, brother, where art thou? movie fans?)

There's no way to heard  a truckload of cattle anywhere on foot by yourself. The guy was screwed either way.  If he'd let them burn, PETA would have had a fit.  I don't know what I would have done in the situation.
