Just curious..... :confused
Lots of stories and opinions....

Slow idle in an area with ambient light that I know well, maybe.  Wide open, dark night on the river/lake, no F'n way...

Some areas of the country are passing speed limits to help curb the carnage... :good

I never have. Will I ever?  Don't know. If I do it will be a full moon and REAL good spot light.

When ever I can, reduce speed and keep it cool. Usually only on lakes I really know. Floating on the river is pretty awsome also.

Have on only a couple occassions, once because we had to get accross to the campsite.
Another time so me and wife could make "whoopie" away from our compadres on the beach. We were floating in the middle of Mohave, pitch dark and by the time we noticed we couldn't see our campfire anymore.  :eek
Not the most comfortable thing to do but I'd like to do more of it and get more relaxed so that if I need to niteboat I'm not a basket case out there.

we do it at parker all the time, I'm good with the river and landmarks, just about as good as daylight but on the lake or a new place I would not be up for it. A spotlight is a great thing, not to see with but to warn speeders with while we are floating with lights on. :beer  :good not at speed, just cruzing

I do at Parker all the time.  Sometimes I drive, but usually I am a passenger.  We are always at reduced speed.  When possible, we have someone at the bow to act as a lookout.

Havasu is a different story for me.  I've never left the channel at night.

Thirty plus years ago, rode with crazy neighbor from Cotonwood Cove to Katherine's landing at midnight in under 20 minutes. :stupid  (It's a 22 mile trip.) Learned all about navigation lights and buoys in a big hurry.

The law in some states limit night (after dusk) speed to 8  :sleep mph. This seems a bit slow. With a good spot light and a little help from the moon, 20 - 25 mph is certainly not too fast.     :good

Common sense, good judgement & sobriety are all very important and can make night cruising very safe & enjoyable.

Exactly.  Us too. I love boat floats at night.  I don't like cruising too much, it's a little scary, but I like it when we get where we're going.  Fourth of July above Davis Dam is really really cool.

I had a guy tell me that he just GPSed all of the obsticles and the shoreline, so he can run at night. My question to him was, How do you GPS another watercraft. He didn't have an answer other than to say, You just watch for the lights on the other boats.  :eek    :beat  :beat .

We have done it more than I care to think of.  In the younger stupider days it at WFO on a full moon it is quite trilling.  However just missing non lighted bouys every so often gave me enough of a scare that now we ever I do it we go very slowly.  We have a big 4th of July Fire works show every year about 5 miles up lake we go to.  It is always pretty nerve racking coming home however.

We've watched the firework from the water at lake here, but we are anchored for the night.

:( Did it this weekend coming back from the Casino... We were at a very slow idle, It took us an hour to go from the casino through the channel to the Nautical. But boats were flying across the lake all around us  :confused  I have no idea how they could see where they were going... I don't think I will do it again... Very scary...

On lakes and river sections I know I am comfortable.  Mission Bay, and on Havasu if the moon is bright.
