Well, it's that time of year when we all GET THE BIRD... What's your prep style for this year's Feast...
Our household is pretty much "traditional"....In the oven, fine linen, pull out the heirloom dinnerware, etc. Â Â Lots of family and friends around... Â

this year thanksgiving day at my sister's,will be doing the turkey on the bbq, then river time where it will be turkey deep fried and bbqd over the weekend. when i deep fry a bird usually inject it with four different marinades, splitting them in quarters.oil temp depends on the size and type of bird, over 18lbs free range i heat the oil to 410* the bird usually pulls it down below 300* when put in.under 15lbs usually heat to 375*. comes out great. on the bbq it is dry rub time.yummy

On the BBQ, what do you put in the rub???? Do you put the bird in a brine first???

use rub that i make up myself, usually dont brine it, the rub has seasoned salt, garlic powder, oregno(greek,it is milder),paprika, onion powder, basil, rosemary, etc.rub the bird down good, bunch of it in the cavity, indirect heat,i cook on charcoal, add charcoal every hour, more rub on the bird, usually done in about 2-2.5 hrs, occasionally quicker.when the juices run clear in the cavity it is done.

I'm excited because both of our families are coming out for Turkey Day. Then we are all off to Parker. Can't wait for the boat parade. This will be my 2nd year seeing it. PS. If anyone has any good... fast... easy recipes for Turkey day please let me know. Thanks... |

Im not a real big fan of turkey. So we usually cook some prime rib with some friends. Don't really have any family here since we're from Hawaii. So eat alot and sleep alot.
HD...It's to bad you have to work on gobble day. Where do work?
I wouldnt mind trying some deep fried turkey...It sounds pretty tasty.

Alpha Beta, Lucky, Albertsons, Stater Bros, and Albertsons again in that order. Â I still have my seniority from my Alpha Beta days. Â I currently work at the Albertsons in Corona del Mar (Newport Beach). Â I write the schedule for the majority of the employees in my store, including my own schedule. Â I could have taken the day off but I think I'll collect the triple time $$$ for working. Â I'll still be off in the early afternoon though. |
In my bizz thats what we call a " DT whore" Â is that still union? |
Yes, but I don't know for how much longer. The dealio from a couple of years back REALLY sucked! That's why I have since gone back to school to learn something else.
