Three-month boater safety course starts in January Published: November 22, 2005 If you are a boater 50 years old or younger, beginning this January you will need to obtain a license to operate a boat in Oregon. Â
Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 76 is offering an eight-week public boating safety course in Portland, Ore., which begins on Jan. 19 and ends on April 13. The class is open to the public and costs $40 for one person or $55 for two, with an additional $12.50 charged for course materials.
Upon completion, you will receive a certificate enabling you to operate a boat with more than 10 horsepower. 6-weeks of class  ....you've got to be kidding... Too cold for boating up there anyway... Â

There are exceptins: Â Is anyone exempt from needing a boater education card? Yes. Exemptions apply to:
Out-of-state and foreign visitors: If they will be boating in Oregon for less than 60 days or hold a boater education card from another state. Boaters with a current Coast Guard Boat Operator License: Boaters such as guides and barge operators who hold a current Coast Guard Boat Operator License are exempt from the requirement. Commercial Fisherman: Boaters who hold a current commercial fishing license do not have to carry a boater education card when operating recreationally but do need to carry their commercial license or documentation. (ORS 830.092(2)) Non-certified, supervised adults: The law allows a non-certified adult to operate a power boat IF under direct supervision of an adult 16 or older who is carrying a boater education card. New Boat Buyers: Buyers have a temporary exemption, valid for up to 60 days. Boat Renters: Renters will be exempt, but must complete a dockside safety checklist.
Here  is a link to the rules:  http://www.marinebd.osmb.state.or.us/Educati....Wh-2914 If link does not work, copy and past it into the address line of a new browser window, hit enter and it should work.

Hey that's a high paying high tech job ya know, they just hire anybody ya know!..

Then she would be able to say that alcohol was a factor. Oops. He just got drunk and fell overboard and drowned. Now lets cash out on his insurance policy.
