So yesterday Jan gets me some supper from Chick-Fil-A and puts it in the micro to keep warm since I'm late from work.
I call and she turns on micro to reheat, not knowing there was foil on the inside of the bag.....suddenly the inside of the micro was aflame, Jan opens it and the flames come out and up like crazy...She starts to panic but my daughter goes and gets the extinguisher from the garage and hands it to mom and says pull the pin and squeeze...."WHat pin?" screams Jan.
"This one mom".
Poooofffff, fire out. Mess to clean now.
Sandwich survived but the fries got toasted.....even had that smokey flavoring :laugh

We just had our annual fire safety class today... the first question is always "How many people have a fire extinguisher in their house?"

Everyone always lies and raises their hand.   :rolleyes :D

Right now, everyone is out back putting out flaming boxes of gasoline and sand.   :flamed

Good job to your daughter, Zig...  :good

I have 2 extinguisers in the house, check that, I only have one charged one now...LOL
Tawni did great and stayed calm. :good
I pictured Jan to look like that duffus on the Snickers commercial where the couch is on fire, running around squeeling with her arms up :rotflmao

Kev, it was Grilled Chicken salad I had yesterday, and Jan didn't consult me before getting dinner.....could have saved the whole ordeal.

Three in the house and four in the garage.

also always mount them near an exit, it's usually about the right distance from the flames to work right, and if you don't get the fire out you can escape.

we do a two fire class at work, and got a group of guys together and had a 4 hour class for the wives , real hands on. Glad to hear the daughter was heads up with the extinguiser> :good  :good  :good

Did a similar thing once at a dealership I was at. Got Weinerschnitzel for lunch got called away came back threw the the bag in the wave and fired that baby up. In about 20 seconds my partner is screamin FIRE FIRE. The hot dogs were wrapped in foil backed paper needless to say the hot dogs didn't make it. :flamed

Wow!  I am surprised and impressed that she was so calm and  cool-headed about it.  Jan's reaction . . . I'm noit so surprised.  :eek Just kiddin' Jan!   :kiss

We have two fire extinguishers in the house, one next to each fireplace (one is close to the kitchen).  Each barn has at least one.

Wow, Ziggy, how old's your daughter? I wonder if my 11 year old (or the 14 yr old for that matter) would have the presence of mind to do that. :good

My wife of course would watch it burn I'm afraid. I just went and reminded her where the big can of "Flame-Out" is. Perfect for the small kitchen flare-ups. Easy to clean-up too. :)

When I was about 8 or so, I put a thermometer in the microwave to see how hot it got in there...  :rolleyes  :eek

It didn't explode, but there was one hell of an arc after about a minute.  From that day forward, my mother always complained how the microwave just didn't seem to be working as well as it used to.   :alien  :break  :rolleyes :D :D
