Last week we had some peeps that tried to pass a stolen check on us. Rather than the usual procedure to insure the check we had a funny feeling about these people so we called the bank and they said can't tell you but fax it over with the ID info that was given. So we did. They called back moments later to tell us it was stolen checks and the LEO wanted to set up a "sting" to catch 'em when they came back to pick up parts they ordered.
Today was that day, Undercover cops sitting in their car for a few hours and the guy shows up to pick up parts we never ordered :laugh ...cops came right up and cuffed him. Search of his car found multiple Credit cards and other fraud stuff. I guess they have been after these people for some time.
One more bad person off the streets folks :good , lets celebrate  :drink

I've seen it all at the supermarket.  Normally I tell the crooks to hit the road, but one particular occasion comes to mind.  On the check was written "VOID if over $500".  I pointed that out to a guy who was trying to cash a check for well over that amount.  His response was "I get paid over that much all the time", but I still turned him away.  Knowing a traffic cop was in our parking lot finishing up on a traffic collision, I followed the guy out and flagged down the cop.  They hooked him up in about 1 minute. :rotflmao

It was really the intuition of both my Parts Manager and Cashier........just the way the guy and this woman acted while she wrote the check, she had ID matching the check but fake...
It all was just a hunch, that got confirmed quickly..
The bummer part is the woman that actually wrote the check didn't come with the guy to pick up the goods. I'm betting though the guy will fink on her anyhow....ya know how misery loves company  :rotflmao

Apparently the LEO have been trying to nab these people for quite some time now....they were grateful and very pleased with themselves..LOL
