I can think of a couple of HDF members that live in Anaheim Hills and one that is in the evacuated area of Orange. :eek  Hopefully all is well with them. :peace

I saw the smoke from the parking lot of my work today just as KCAL 9's Michele Gile was stopping by the store to pick something up.  She was on the way to the fire.

As far as frequent HDF members to this board, maybe Knuckle Head has some inside info from his job. :stupid

The News thes a.m. siad that it was at 3,500 acres and only 7% contained, lets hope that the winds stay calm so that the Firefighters can get an upper hand on the blaze.

Hope that all of the HDF'ers that may be affected are safe and sound...

It's a real bad time of year for a fire. I hope everyone is safe.
I'm not sure if it's from the O.C. fire, but my car was covered in ash all the way up in L.A. yesterday. :peace

Don't count on it.  Hopefully this thing gets contained quickly so we don't see that 3500 acres going up to 35000 acres.

ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif. -- U.S. Forest Service investigators said flames from a controlled burn led to the Sierra wildfire, which has been raging since the pre-dawn hours of Monday in the Cleveland National Forest in an area near the boundary between Orange and Riverside counties.

After scorching more than 7,179 acres, the fire was 18 percent contained Wednesday morning, and fire commanders said they expected total encirclement by early Saturday evening.

Investigators said they traced the source to a controlled burn that went out of control on Black Star Road. Officials said the burn was intended to clear 10 acres and protect the area from fires.

"We deeply regret that has occurred," said Chief Rich Hawkins of the U.S. Forest Service.

Hawkins said about 70,000 prescribed burns are set annually. He said flames can burn to the roots of dry brush, then return to the surface and start another fire.

The fire is burning away from population centers, and residents of about 2,600 evacuated homes in Anaheim and the city of Orange have been given clearance to return.

The American Red Cross offered assistance to evacuees at Villa Park High School, 18042 Taft Ave. Anyone needing Red Cross assistance may call (714) 431-5300.

Orange County Animal Care Services made arrangements to help people evacuating their homes find safe places for their pets.

Canyon Rim and Anaheim Hills elementary schools were closed Tuesday, along with Santiago Charter School, but all three schools were to be open on Wednesday. Two other schools were closed Tuesday: Hillsborough Private School (Anaheim Hills) and Oak Ridge Private School (City of Orange). NBC reported that all schools would be open Wednesday.

"We deeply regret that has occurred,"

We have horses in the stables at Irvine Regional Park. This ended up being the firefighters command post for this incident.

It was touch and go for awhile and we prepared to evacuate over 200 horses from the park but did not have to. There is also a zoo with some exotic animals there.

Looks like they should be breaking the command post down sometime this weekend.

Thanks...Us too. Apparently the fire department, park and stables don't really have a set evacuation plan. After this is all over with I think I will be talking to the powers to be about this issue. Could spell disaster if it is not addressed.

H2OAdvantage, this is totally off topic, but why don't you have this image in your signature on this site?

OK, I added it HD.

By the way most of the firemen pulled out of Irvine Regional Park Saturday night and the skies are clear.

Now it's time to wash the horses to get all the ash off and a much needed car wash... :jumpie
