California Hunters and Dog Owners Beware- (04/14)
California
A California bill that would make sportsmen who hunt with dogs and pet owners whose dogs have run-ins with backyard wildlife vulnerable to prosecution is advancing in the state legislature. On April 4, the Assembly Public Safety Committee voted 4 to 3 in favor of AB 2110, sponsored by Assemblywoman Loni Hancock, D-El Cerrito. The bill was proposed to ban open field coursing events with sighthounds. Its vague wording could easily leave waterfowl and upland game hunters vulnerable to prosecution when they use retriever dogs in the field. Assembly Bill 2110 now moves to the Assembly Appropriations Committee for debate.
Aside from prohibiting field coursing, AB 2110 would prohibit dogs from being untethered and chasing animals, and allow prosecution if a dog kills an animal. It could even be construed so that a dog owner would be subject to prosecution if his dog chases or kills a rabbit in a backyard or at the park.
Take Action! California sportsmen and dog owners should continue to vehemently oppose AB 2110. Contact your Assembly member and members of the Appropriations Committee to let them know the bill will threaten sportsmen and law abiding citizens whose dogs have run-ins with rabbits and other wildlife. Even if you have made one call, call again to remind your Assembly member of your opposition to the bill. To find your legislator, call (916) 319-2856 or use the Legislative Action Center at www.ussportsmen.org.

Same here... Â If my dog happens to kill an animal that is in her territory/property, so be it....like THAT would ever happen...

I will be on that for sure. Thanks for the update. I don't hunt with mine, but I raise hunting dogs and would like to train mine for field trials some day if I ever get some extra time One more reason to move.

Miller doesn't duck or quail hunt nearly as much as he used to and his bird dog recently died (we had to put him down in January) however, I'm sure he'll be interested in this...I'll pass it along to him.
As for my little pride n joy...she's a killing machine! She hunts all day long on the property and kills just about anything that moves in her path...lizards, mice, gophers, birds, squirrels, rabbits, etc...you name it...she's busy all day look'n for something to chase!
Just look at that face...she looks like a fuzzy little lover...but beware if you have fur!!!

Well think about it even if your not a hunter or your dog a hunter If they kill even a gopher or lizard on your property & someone finds out you can get in trouble It is BS! My dog was bred for hunting gophers
