SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- A 76-year-old man is recovering after being injured when a SWAT officer shot a gunman who was holding him hostage. The incident began yesterday morning in Peoria, where a police officer confronted the suspect for driving a stolen vehicle.

The man pointed a gun at the officer and ran into a nearby convenience store, and then came back out and carjacked a Krispy Kreme delivery truck.

That led to a miles-long police chase which ended at a strip shopping center in Scottsdale after tire-deflation devices flattened three of the truck's tires.

The gunman then forced his way into a closed Safeway store and took 76-year-old Patrick Corbett, a night deli worker, hostage. As he held a gun to Corbett's head and attempted to leave the store, a SWAT officer shot him in the back of the head, killing him.

Bullet fragments hit Corbett in the neck but he's expected to be O-K.

It should be perfectly legal for the cops/swat in this case to shoot these sons o'bitches up. I mean start toe by toe.......THEN kill em. When are these bottom feeders going to learn that the man does not play around? Dumbasses!

More along the lines of don't shoot through the victim to get to the bad guy.........those "bullet fragments" might have just as easily turned off the good guy too........It would be very interesting to be in that debrief! :guns :guns

Exactly, TV car chase in L.A. with that kinda ending might slow down these idiots from trying to get infamous on TV.
