First Come, First Served
KINGMAN, AZ - Wild Mustang and burro auctions are a thing of the past for Arizona. The month of May marks the beginning of a new tradition for these animals

The Bureau of Land Management corrals in Kingman will be open to the public from 9:00am to 4 pm every third Saturday of the month to conduct adoptions. BLM spokesman Jim Whittington says animals will be adopted on a first come, first served basis. BLM manages two wild horse herds in Arizona averaging approximately 210 head as well as 10 burro herds averaging approximately 2,500 head.

Interested parties must submit an application to BLM describing facilities and provisions available for keeping the animals. Adoption fees have been set at $125.00 per animal. Qualified applicants can adopt up to four animals per year. The BLM Kingman corrals are located 7 miles north of Andy Divine on Route 66.

For more information on adopting one of these animals contact BLM at 1-866-4MUSTANGS or in Kingman at (928) 718-3700.
