Does anyone have any experience with this Ford Dealer?

My wife's Land Rover succumbed to the heat in Needles over this last weekend and the fuel pump gave up the ghost.

It's bad enough that parts for this ting are expensive, but the dealer wants an arm and three legs just for the labor to put in a new pump! :angry

My local guy said the labor takes about 20 minutes but the book says to charge an hour. The Needles Ford dealer wants over $500.00 to install it!!! :angry  :angry

The fuel pump is $380 - 450 :eek  I even checked locally and on-line...that's what it costs, so they aren't inflating that.

They quoted $971.93 for the whole job. My local mechanic says the job isn't that hard, that the pump is easily accessed. He can do it in under an hour, but would charge me for one hour - $550.00 for the whole job. I didn't ask if he was replacing the filter for that price though :rolleyes

The guy in Needles says the book gives him almost as much time for the filter R/R as for the pump.

I was able to get him to come down to $800 which includes pump, filter and their charge for 1 hour for diagnostics.
That is probably more in line with what a Land Rover dealer would charge......damn those Brits! :angry  (It's a pre-Ford Rover)
I want to sell it and buy a Yukon. :banghead

I don't know about the ford dealer but the chevy dealer helped me with my jeep they were pretty nice about helping me find a place to get it smoged. on most cars though i can see them charging 2 hours labor to do a fuel pump cause its a stinky job and if they have never done one they may not know any short cuts.

Have I passed you on the river?
