just got back today ive been goin there for ike 10 yrs.i go like 3 times a year just to get the trailer out, beaches are cool we always stay at site 16 on the water it has the most hook ups and we go with a bunch of people. we never lock our stuff and leave our boats in tye water every night although its probably a good idea, the rangers stay til about 6pm and cruz the beaches so weve never had a problem. you efinitely need to make reservations but now you can call in and sometimes you can get lucky. have fun

To get a waterfront site, you need to book WAY AHEAD.... You share with 2-4 other RV's/Groups, with a designated beach. You can rent a trailer; they will put it on your spot, full hook-ups, etc.
We've dirt camped in the grassy areas as well, some years ago, of course... Ended up just going to Travelers Inn; can't beat the value...
