Has anyone camped at Park Moabi before?  I am thinking about taking a travel trailer out there, and I have a few questions:

1. How much for one of those on the water camp-sites
2. How is the atmosphere.  Do you need to lock everything down at night or are you ok?
3. How far in advance do you need to reserve a spot?

Also any other info would be great!  Thanks!  :good

For what it's worth, I've launched there many times and the last time I was there (last year) I had a nice conversation with the gal at the front office. We talked about camping there and I was particularly interested in being out on one of the points with hook-ups.

There is a waiting list, I don't know how long or if it's full or some weekends are better than others. You have to look at the calendar.

There is (I think) a four trailer minimum to reserve a point - which worked out for us because we had 4 familes interested.

I'd suggest you pick up the phone and call, they were pretty friendly to me. :)

Your right.. I will just call :)

I have also seen some people that look like they found a back road and are by the water.. Anyone know if this is just illegal camping or if there is a secret???

There is a minimum on the trailers but it is for the first night only. Each pad, depending on how bg it is will have a minimum charge that only applies to the first night. After that they charge by the trailer. My buddy reserves about a year ahead of time for the same spot but if you are not choosy about the site than you might get lucky. I have had alot of friends stay there over the year and they have never seemed to have a problem with theft or other people but it's good practce to lock your stuff anyway. The channel going to the Marina has become quite the hang out spot during the weekends lately. There is plenty of beach area jsut take your camping receipt because they come around and gig ya for $5 to hand on the beach for the day

just got back today ive been goin there for ike 10 yrs.i go like 3 times a year just to get the trailer out, beaches are cool we always stay at site 16 on the water it has the most hook ups and we go with a bunch of people. we never lock our stuff and leave our boats in tye water every night although its probably a good idea, the rangers stay til about 6pm and cruz the beaches so weve never had a problem. you efinitely need to make reservations but now you can call in and sometimes you can get lucky.
have fun

To get a waterfront site, you need to book WAY AHEAD.... :rolleyes  You share with 2-4 other RV's/Groups, with a designated beach.  :good   You can rent a trailer; they will put it on your spot, full hook-ups, etc.

We've dirt camped in the grassy areas as well, some years ago, of course... :laugh   Ended up just going to Travelers Inn; can't beat the value... :good
