She did good... a little nervous at first, she wasn't getting to far away from me. Once she was out in the boat, she settled down.
As far as getting in the water, she wasn't to sure about that at all. She kept wanting to go in, but wouldn't get off the swim step. I finally just put her in the water, she made a couple laps of the boat and then wanted back out. We did that a couple times. She wanted to be wherever I was, so when I was in the water, so was she.
One of the reasons I bought the jacket for her, was to help get her back in the boat, there is a handle on the back of the jacket to help pick her up. I picked it up at one of the boat dealers here in Tucson. It's a Stearns jacket, they come in small, medium, or large. Alley's is a large.
Unfortunatley we weren't able to go back out, so we'll have to wait and see how she does on the return trip.
A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his.

Labs are water dogs they love it, mine was the same I'd throw the ball in the pool and she'd make a beeline and come to a smoking stop at the edge, so one time when she did that I gave a little help and gave a slight boot and in she went, straight to the bottom and that's all it took, she came up and swam around like she was a pro, and after that she couldn't wait to chase the ball in the pool!..

78 Southwind found a company that will exchange them if you have a puppy, so you don't have to keep buying them as the puppy grows. In case anyone wants to know. Thanks for the picks, Sleek.

| Quote (freddog @ July 02 2006,11:41 pm) | Good for you for putting a vest on your dog! Â Â Dogs will swim until they are too exhausted to continue, then drown. Â Most people think dogs can swim forever, but its not true. |
And some dogs just plain WON'T swim...one of our dogs, sinks...it's the weirdest thing...she doesn't even attempt to swim...she just goes under! So she wears a vest and we are super duper careful with her around water!
