My D-I-L mothers dog passed away yesterday tragically. Somehow, without her knowing, the dog snuck into their car while it was open and got locked in..............
The Temecula heat took its toll.. :cry  :(  :cry
.
See is totally distraught, feels overwhelming guilt, just a mess right now........ :(
Really sad day for them... :grouphug

Oh man... that sux...  :(

I was sitting on the couch last night, with the dog asleep right next to me... it occured to me that I've become rather attatched to the brown poop machine in the last 6 months, I don't know what I'd do if she were suddenly gone....

I'll keep the DIL's Mother in my thoughts...  :grouphug

I've been taking care of my parents house and 2 cats for the last couple of weeks since they have been gone to Nor.Cal. On Tuesday afternoon, I went over to mow the yard and water it. I went back later in the evening to feed the cats. One didn't come out of hiding to eat, not unusual for him during the summer. I went yesterday morning and didn't see either one, but I put food out anyways. Last evening I still didn't see the one cat. as I went looking, I heard him but couldn't find him. I finally located him locked in the back garage. :eek He had been locked in there since the day before without any food or water :eek Good thing it was a little cooler and over cast yesterday....

Wow CE...that could have been ugly too...lucky cats have 9 lives....
Same with a Hamster we had long ago, he normally was in the garage but we left him there for 4 or 5 days while at the river, in which time there was a heat wave here at home. He'd had a seizure or something cuz both left legs were limp and inoperative, slowly they both recovered.....Damned if the thing didn't survive for another couple years.
.
.
.

Anyhow, thanks for all your well wishes folks. DIL mother felt responsible cuz she closed the door on the car after they'd just emptied groceries.....she's never seen her husband cry before...My son ended up digging a grave for it because they just couldn't. Their whole family are animal lovers, live in the equestrian area, have horses and other animals. DIL is an intern at a VET.

Heat Stroke in Dogs

I'm sooooooooo sorry to hear that a dog passed in such a horrid way...I'm sure she feels just terrible!  :cry WOW...that really is terrible!! VERY VERY VERY sad!!!  :cry

I have read that 80 degrees is too hot for dogs...and if it reaches 80 degrees you should bring your dog indoors and give plenty of access to water. So many of us bring the dogs to the lake and river where it's well over 100 degrees, if you do that, make sure the dog is put in the water now and then to cool off...and has plenty of fresh water to drink!...sooo friggen sad!!!  :cry

Our dog gets locked in the garage all the friggen time! Drives me crazy...we call her indoors a few times throughout the day...and especially on hot days...and that particular garage is pretty cool...doesn't get too hot in there even on hot days...which is a nice bonus since she somehow finds her way in there all the time...I'm trying to convince Miller to put a doggie door in, so she can come and go as she please, but he's not one for Doggie doors :(

My dogs have a dog door so they can come into the house, or in there case, go out. They spend most of the time in the house, doing what dogs do, sleeping :sleep
