Katrina was only allowed to wear one kind of makeup during middle school. She got to choose. Towards the end of 8th grade I got a little lax and let her have 2. Usually she chose either mascara/eyeliner or mascara/lipstick. She got a little crazy right after 8th grade and I didn't say anything because it was summer and no one really saw her. Then she saw a picture of herself with all of that color on and has toned it way down now.

I let my daughter, 12 next month wear lip gloss. I like the one type rule. Especially since she is going into Jr. High. That still gives her the freedom to choose but keeps it to a minimum.
I'm glad you started this thread Ross. Its something thats been bugging me and I wasn't sure how to approach it. She just started shaving her legs. I wasn't too sure about it and all that. She would come home with the "All my friends are doing it" story.
Well, Charlaine let her use Nair so no razors were involved. I am still on the fence about it, but I guess it's a pretty harmless step forward. But I am a Dad, my little girls will always be my little girls.
damifiknow... Girls are great but for a Dad I think this is the hard part is just starting.

I don't have any kids .... yet; but i can imagine it must be way harder to raise girls instead of boys. Someone once told me "boys are easy, you only have to worry about one penis. With girls, you have to worry about everyone's penis."... but I guess that's another thread. Â All i know is that it seems everyone is in a rush to grow up faster from what I can tell. Eighth graders don't look like they did when I was in 8th grade.
It all changed when Sir-Mix-Alot came out with "baby got back" . . .

My girl turns 13 next month.....Mom pretty much keeps it in check with very minimal, maybe some lipgloss but nothing really for the eyes or face. She sees alot of young girls at her school with so much on they kinda look skanky. The exception is when she does her plays and acting having to get full makeup in some cases.......Which btw, she performs here in Oceanside the next two weekends

Our 12 yr old started shaving her legs (w/ a elec razor) a year ago. I think that is a by the needs basis. She needed to and it doesn't bother us at all.
As far as the other, she gets lip gloss and that's it. I really don't see any reason right now for more. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I have to.

What causes that? |
It's all about the application of the make-up I suppose....Devra can chime in and provide some feedback on this. She used to do make-up on the side for some of her skincare clients. I've seen her turn some ugly ladies into beautiful women in under an hour.

With one Boy, I pray I never have to address this with him...  or I will be very  Â
Clearly a tough one to handle though. Â I have a friend with a high-school age (freshman)daughter. Â She's known for giving the best BJ at her school. I wonder if there is any coorelation to the 8 pounds of daily make-up she wears and this little known fact. Â
