You might have them come out and change the meter or at least check it... of course there will be a service charge  :rolleyes , but meters do get out of tolerance over time, focks the readings up.

Another possibility... if your meter is read by a person still vs. a remote read (called a turtle system), the meter reader will "estimate" the read for several months and then actually show up and read the meter... your bill will be through the roof.  If your readings (kWh) are damn near the same for several months in a row followed by a big jump... you've got a lazy meter reader on your hands.

Don't know how big your AC is, but my 4.5ton unit used 1680 kWh last month... and it was over a hundred every day.

Solar elect panels.

... and that ain't no shit either...

I plan on putting up solar one of these days, the State of Arizona and TEP offer big incentives for installed kW... almost enough to cover a good portion of the install.

You will start seeing a big push in the Southwest for installed solar (i.e. distributed generation)... Our generation company at work has more demand now than generator capacity, and it's getting to hard to site and build plants... solar is one of the options for taking the pressure off the assetts we have.

We are really fortunate here because our power is cheap compared to most others. Our a/c runs 24/7 all summer and the bill has never exceeded $130. :good

Did you know if you lightly bang on the bottom of the glass covering on your electric meter it stops spinning? Then tap it a few more times and it will start again. Or so I've heard  :D

The hell with tapping the meter......I'm gonna take a 5 pound sledge hammer to the f'in thing.

I just got of the phone with Edison and they tell me that the reason my bill is high is due to the increase in rates.  They increased it 37%.........  :beat  I don't even charge that kind of percentage to my customers.  :flamed

I guess I will be lighting candles for light in my house from now on...  :cry

The store I work at is VERY small.  It's one of the smallest in our chain if not the smallest (16,000 square feet).  Our 2nd Qtr (13 weeks) ends on Sunday and our electric bills for this 13 week period total more than $83,000. :eek  This is not a typo - thats EIGHTY THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS for a 13 week period. :eek  :eek  :eek
