Like this...?? Â

Total length limit is 65 feet, but not sure if it's legal.....need to have power brakes on both towables, I believe...

Vehicle Lengths in CA
My buddy got pulled over last year on the way to Glamis. Â 40' Pusher w/ 25' Trailer. Â 65 Feet Right. Â Plus 4' for the tongue. Â The cop asked my buddy to hold the tape at the front of the motorhome as he walked to the back of the rig. Â Got popped with a $1300.00 ticket. Â Â (Think he might have had a few other infractions) Â Needless to say, he's got a whole new setup this year. Â If only CA was little more like AZ and NV. Â
Check your 65' and make sure you've got the proper license.

I'm pretty sure the non-commercial class B covers that. |
You have to get the "Housecar Endorcement" along with the class B licence!..
Class B!

Based on that link to the CA DMV, he not only doesn't need the Class B, but he doesn't need an endorsement either. He's at 40'.

Correct.  The cop didn't nail him for an improper license.  Class C is all that was needed for his 40'er.  Got popped for being too long (and a few other things that he wouldn't elaborate on  ). Â

That's not fun.
I've been reading through the Vehicle Code. Man, what a nightmare. You can do this but only if that....
And it looks like there is a recreational vehicle endorsement on a Class C required for towing a trailer that size. But it doesn't require a driving test with the equipment, just a written test.
I may go visit my local DMV and see what's involved........just for grins, I love going to the DMV. |
You're not kidding. Â I found out I'm in violation when I tow my 30' Weekend Warrior. Â Standard travel trailer right? Â Wrong. Â It has a GVWR of 13,000LBS. Â Which means I need a Non-Commercial Class A. Â Â
I gave the cop my Commercial License (aviation) along with my First Class Medical to see if he'd cut me some slack and it worked, but he said next time it won't fly.
