Ok, This is gonna be one of the mushy husband /wife threads that seem to only fly on HD forums. Guess thats why this is the best river forum on the net. The members are just too cool and don't need pepsi machines or ramp dogs to have a great relationship with the spouse. If your not into that, and would rather read about ramp dogs please click the back botton know.
Angie and I have been on here for quit a few years and have made some great friends, that being said most of you know that she has been in school for the last 6 years chasing the dream of becoming a teacher. I met Angie in High school while she was working for Stater Bros market. After HS she attended cal State SB on the parents dime. There where many times she ditched school to come see me over in Catalina or blew off school to do this or that. She dropped out, we got married, and started a family.
Fast forward a bunch of years of nights/weekends working for StaterBros.yes the same job she had in H.S. Seeing that the grocery industry was going to hell in a hand basket we made the decision to put everything else on the back burner and get her back to school. So 6 years ago Angie enrolled in Mt San Jacinto jr collage. I was so proud of my wife when she recieved her AA. Two years down and two too go. Wrong!
It took another 4 years to obtain all the credits and credentials she needed to become a teacher. Angie kept her job at Staters, raised a family and put up with my constant banter about not having money for 4 years. It only got worse when she needed to quit her job. Seemed every time I made more money the costs of school increased.
Some how my wife managed to keep it all together and maintain a steller GPA. I have never met anyone who wanted something so bad. Her performance in school helped the family make the sacrifice for Mom. Along the way we all learned from Mom. My daughter and son learned that you better get an education now because later is hard and I learned about my wife ability to stay up all night with her head in a book. The kids never quit and my daughter actually looks forward to the over loaded schedule she has placed upon herself. " Hey Mom can do it!"
Today is the first day my wife teaches her own class in her own class room. She spent all last week decorating and preparing for this day. My Daughter starts her first day of High School today as well. It is amazing how the last 6 years has changed our family. The saying "today is the first day of the rest of your life" really rings true for us today. This chapter of our life is behind us and we get to make plans for the next. You can bet your a$$ it includes an education for our kids.
At the time it was hard to make a payment toward education instead of a new car, boat or RV, but looking back any of the toys would never have giving me the joy that my wifes education has given me today. If there is anyone out ther considering going back to school to chase a dream you truly can not live with out. I hope you will go for it. Life is short, enjoy every minute.
Way to go Angie! I am extreamly proud of you.
Ok back to the regularly scheduled nonsense, porn, boat discussion, and humor.
Jeff

Congrats to Angie....and thanks for sharing this great story Jeff. Chasing your dream is equally exciting and somewhat scarry at times. As I say "the pursuit of your dream will come at the expense of your comfort."

She worked her ass off to get where she is, she had the support from You and that is a very important part of her latest journey, she sacraficed so much and so did you and the kids, that's what makes you all a very strong family unit, you're a family that you should be very proud of. Congrats to Angie and a big congrats to you as well Jeff. Give her a hug for us...
BTW, congrats to Katrina on her 1st year in HS, it will go by so fast, before you know it she will be getting her diploma, then onto her higher education...
RIVER! If you have to ask you wont understand...

What grade(s) is she teaching? . That being said, someone needs to find a school teacher K3 for HDF Â |
7th grade world history. I expect a call around 1:00-1:30 with a report.
Funny thing is she is teaching at the school that replaced my jr high. Quite a few teachers in the district remember her from our days back in H.S. She said it was kinda wierd walking the old HS campus on a tour with the teachers last week. |
De ja Vu........ Wow, 7th grade...........Hormone city!!! She's brave . I felt like that with my son during HS whenever I went there. I'd see some of my old teachers and somehow feel like I need to sit and be quiet.... . Congrats again to Angie......we're all very proud of her Â

Aww shucks. Â I really just wanted the weekends off. Â I was tired of missing out on everything and my schedule never got any better. Â 11-8 or 12-9 after 15 years gets old real quick when the newbies who flirt with the boss get the early shifts. Â
Honestly, I couldn't have done it without the support of my family and friends (you guys are included in that). Â It really means a lot when people tell you the suffering will be worth it and give you atta boys. Â
I'm sure glad it's over! Â Today was a great day. Â A little dry with me talking about rules and procedures, but we shared a couple of laughs and did our best to have a good time with it. Â
It will be even better when I get that first check in a couple of weeks!
