BREAKING NEWS: Pluto Demoted, No Longer a Planet
Pluto is no longer a planet.
"Pluto is dead," said Caltech researcher Mike Brown, who spoke with reporters via a teleconference while monitoring the vote. The decision also means a Pluto-sized object that Brown discovered will not be called a planet. "Pluto is not a planet. There are finally, officially, eight planets in the solar system."
Hey MMSW, who gets to rip the little Pluto off the solar system models at school? Do they still use those? Or just posters?

Seems like when I was a kid the teachers were saying that Pluto had just been discovered within the last 50 years or so.
The reason they had to can it is because, as I understand it, they found a lot of other bodies in our solar system the same size, or bigger than Pluto and people wanted to make those planets also. So it was either gain a whole bunch of new planets, or lose one.
I could be wrong though, that's been known to happen. Especially when I don't follow the story very closely.
Oh, and Glassman, I don't have to worry about the posters. I don't do science, unless it's Galileo or Sir Isaac Newton

Ok......so I guess you don't have to handle the touch-up on the Polar Bear poster then either, huh?
