Picking up my new quad tomorrow  :jumpie  We want to go test ride it on Labor Day, just for the day. It's still to dang hot to go ride out in the desert (if you ask me)! So we were thinking of driving up to Pismo for the day to ride... FAR! Anyway, does anyone know of any other COOOOOOL locations that are within 3-4 hours of Huntington to ride at?  :stupid  Thanks!

K55.

Less than an hour south of the border, just pass Rosarito.

Better than Pismo, but some precautions (like insurance) have to be dealt with along with crossing the border back into the states on holiday weekend. Although the traffic coming home from Pismo ain't no picnic either.

K55 is on the beach, so it isn't any hotter than SoCAl beaches.

Never been to Bishop riding bikes anyways.

You could try Gorman, Hungry valley.

Its up in the mountains, so I wouldnt think it would be too hot.

We're headed out to Cal City tomorrow night! :good Not too warm at sunrise and sunset. :D

It's an easy drive, just past Mojave. From Redondo I can make it in 2 1/2 hours towing - if the traffic behaves. 3 max.

Rowher Flats is about an hour+1/2, just off the 14 and Gorman is straight up the five past Magic Mountain & Castaic. The last two are BLM land so make sure you have a spark arrestor on your quad (probably do, but check -big fine)and they can get quite crowded since they are so close to L.A.

Cal City is wide open and has all kinds of terrain. Very quad friendly, not so many tight trails. :good

Farther up is Jawbone, keep going up 395 and you'll find Dove Springs.

What quad did you get?

Yea, Pismo is a butt kicker of a drive. Always much longer than you remember.

We have a forums group trip to Dumont Dunes this Thanksgiving, and Halloween, and New Years if you guys are interested.
Excellent camping, not jammed packed like Glamis. Awsum time. Ya don't need sand tires with a quad, though we have extras.

Took her out for a spin yesterday in Gorman! SOOOOO much fun, I had a little trouble getting her going she stalls verrrrrry easily  :banghead  I'm not the only one who said that either.
Anyway, Gorman was neat! I loooove the loading ramps that they have there way cool  :good  Although it got super hot and there were a bizillion bees there, everytime you stopped you would get swarmed with bees. I can't wait till it gets cooler.

A 2 hour drive from HB will put you in between victorville & Lenwood. Awesome off road area. No dunes, but you can ride for ever, & high desert temps are not an issue. Hope you have fun.

Glad you had fun! ;)

We had an awesome time too!  :good

Almost had the entire bazillion acres to ourselves. Started riding at the crack of dawn and stopped for a nap around 11 ish, had lunch and then back at it.

We even had a little cloud cover to cool things down on Sunday.

Can't wait to get out there again. :cool
