PETA upset at Six Flags roach contest Mon Sep 25, 7:53 AM ET

GURNEE, Ill. - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants Six Flags Great America to scrap its Halloween-themed cockroach-eating promotion.

A spokeswoman for the animal rights organization says the contest at the amusement park's FrightFest is "gratuitously cruel."

The park in Gurnee, Ill., is joining other Six Flags parks in offering unlimited line-jumping privileges to anyone who eats a live Madagascar hissing cockroach. The bugs are up to three inches long.

The contest begins next month.

Amusement park officials are defending their menu choice. Great America spokesman Jim Taylor says the bugs are nutritious, high in protein and fat free.

First of all, anyone who eats one of those needs help......(Ex-lax, too)
and for PETA to protest it shows exactly the kind of trivial crap those idiots will protest.

I hear that next on their hit list is people who dress dogs up in Halloween costumes! :banghead

On my sons swimming team they used to release a couple hundred goldfish into the pool for all the kids to chase, it was great fun and some of the fish are still alive after 3 years!

We got shut down, so now we throw marbles in and the kids turn them in and get gift certificates to.......Red Lobster!!!! :rotflmao  :rotflmao  :rotflmao

(Yeah, that was my part, I'm a passive aggressive SOB, ain't I??)

I have known many PETA members. The one thing I have found they all have in common is a profound lack of knowledge about animals (ie biology and zoology).
I'm hoping to find someone who can develope the perfect food to serve PETA members, tofu flavored veal. :p
