how long can you run something like that at 3/4 to WOT...?
and how many ice chest of "recreational beverages" can they carry...?
i'm gonna feel like a mini van around you guys...

I had a 79 southwind jet (18' jet boat)... Had two 12 gallon tanks.. And I could make it from the Avi to the gorge and back cruizing about half throttle... (Appx 25 mile each way)

But If I floored it I could cook a 12 gallon tank in about 6 miles...

It had seating for 4 (sorta) that meant 4 people, and no beer.. or three people and a little beer, and no extras, like... well anything..... or two people and enuf beer for the day, a towel or two. And the tools you are gunna need to fix the son-of-a-bitch when if gives you problems half way through your day  :beat which is why you needed more beer in the first place  :drink

But I wouldnt worry about what you drive or bring... If it floats you are good.  If it runns you are even better!  :D

Hope this helped

so, here is how we launch...
3 couples... (average size fit/sexy couples)
3 regular size full icechest... anchors(2), fenders(big ones), tools(small bag+30ft jumper cables)
a 3 bedroom tent (base camp...) :grouphug  :fouet
sleeping bags/pillows
200+ pounds of broken down pallets strapped between the front seats...
ONLY 90gal of gas.... (and a gal o' lantern fuel)
food (steaks, breakfast and munchies) for 4 days on an island
(fresh porta pot) and 10 gallons of fresh water..

run 65 mph for 20 miles ( on 3-4 foot seas) and still have over 3/4 tank of gas...

i feel more like a suburban now...
:p

My delaminator jet holds 60 gallons... more than enough for an entire weekend... and I don't run nearly at full throttle though... about 3 grand on the tach is a nice speed.

3 grand for me is about 45mph...
3500 r's is more cruize range, puts me closer to 55-60mph
and easy on gas...
twins working half as hard, drink half the gas...
so, it works out nice.... (epsecially if you have to limp home on one..) knock on wood

slick water...  :love  i wont know how to drive...???

Our Carrera 202XR holds 40 gallons of fuel and a couple of 48 can soft side coolers, If I hit Martinez I can run all weekend on the two tanks, when we went to parker I blew trough about 100 gallons in five days, just depends on how fast I wanna go... :D

Not the coolers....it's what's in 'em! :laugh

My tug carries 58 gallons of regular unleaded......that'll usually get us through a 3-day weekend with gas to spare - UNLESS I'm towing every kid on the block on one of my insane towables - the flying Manta Ray sucks up gas like Heidi Fleiss on crack! :eek

2-56 can coolers built-in (I'll throw another in if needed) and a ski locker big enough to stuff Shaq into, handles plenty 'o gear.
I've got a tent that fits over the bow and a bimini extension that doubles the shade. The rear seating area turns into a queen-sized bed for nap time :D

Don, you'll probably dig shooting over to Catalina in the morning while the water is flat. Should take you about 20 - 30 minutes in your Donzi. Just be sure to sample the Buffalo Milk at Doug's Two Harbor Reef Saloon (no relation - I don't think?) :drink

My boat has a whacker and it sports a pair of 12 gallon tanks. I haven't checked it's range or mileage, but I can usually lead foot around for a long 3 day weekend on about 18-20 gallons of gas.

thats damn fast... but the water has to be damn near flat for that dont it...?

i'ld like to get mine down to 1/8 tank of gas, and get all the anchors and crap out of it for a speed run... just me in the boat... let the wife take pictures from another boat or whatever... i bet she'l get up there...
i had 72mph with 3/4 tank of gas and 6 people and some gear, but that was with the speedo... so thats usually off a good bit, specially with a stepped hull.
that hull is great, after the second step, she's riding on bubbles...

ok... WTF...? here i tried and tried to sell our tank before dragging it across the world..
and now, out of the blue... some guy offers $50,000...
for the boat and to have his agent ship it to him.....
:(  :cry
so... that being said....
who's got a river boat for sale...  :bebe
i can NOT be without a boat.
(my luck.... the "deal" will fall through)
but again... MY LUCK... it will work out....

so... i wanted a Berkley water blower ( spelling may be off...)
but you get the point..
i'd like a nice rooster tail...
arent they like hell to manuver at slow speed..? ( jets)
i know they are a bit slower (thats what i heard)
but... i just like it...
i just dont want to have to take one and have the "hook" shaved off and all that... ( gotta find one that's had some money sunk in it...  :bebe  and make someone an offer...)
:beer

Jets are actually very easy to manuever at slower speeds, any boat that can turn itself around in it's own length is a good thing, easiest boat that I've had to dock and trailer, like anything it just takes a little bit of practice.

Our Carrera is a great solid boat, not something that you can take to Lake Havasu on a busy weekend, it'll kick your ass, trust me, but for Parker and the Lower River were we hang the most it is a great boat, speeds top out at about 57, I added a droop at the beginning of the season and the Roost is awesome. Right now Ultra has a Tom Papp built version of there current 21' deck at there SD showroom, John West says that he'll let it go for $25K, it has a big motor, setback pump, droop, etc..., that's a pretty smokin deal for this particular boat...

Sounds like you have a good plan. I would like to have 2 boats, one for the river and another bigger one for the rougher waters. I'll have to hit the lottery first!!  :laugh  :D
