Sometimes you never know what life will bring or take from you. Â I'm of the mindset that you should save for the future - but also have some fun along the way to retirement. Â You never know what life will hand you, sometimes it's unexpeceted "good", sometimes it's unexepected "bad". Life is a balance...work/relax, save/spend, office/home, etc...
So the other day a co-workers husband is in the office, he's complaining that he has these lumps on the side of his neck. Â They go to the doctor...think it's a swolen gland. His doctor says take some anti-inflamitories, check back in a couple of weeks. He goes back, they refer him to this place and that place. Â He goes in for a cat scan, and another cat scan. Long story short, they think it's cancer...they are waiting for the results on the biopsy. This all transpired last week, biopsy was las Friday.
I walk in the office on Monday...."Did you hear what happened? His nephew got in an accident this weekend and was killed. They are driving up today to make some funeral arrangements." I haven't gotten the details, but it sounds like he was in a bad car accident and ended up dieing. This is his only nephew, his brothers only son.
At work today...results of the biopsy are in, he has cancer. Â They found out today, it inoperable and he has to do the chemo and radiation treatment....48, two kids in their 20's, etc...

The year-end Holidays seem to attrack/magnify the personal situation..... My younger sister's father-in-law took his own life some years ago in THEIR POOL on 12/24.....
We have had 5 straight years of personal dramas in December....I spent more time in hospitals/nursing homes than I did with the family & friends celebrating the "season"....no wonder I hate Christmas.... Â Â

We just found out this morning that one our agency partners and a dear friend to many I work with lost his son last night. His son took his own life. Having lost my boyfriend my sophmore year of college to suicide, the pain is all too real and hits a little too close to home.
My sincere sympathy and condolences to the family.

Thank you. For me, this event brings up a lot of emotions I've struggled with since receiving the phone call the night my boyfriend took his own life. I know all too well what this family is going through.
The irony, is that the son's father is the head of our local mental health agency. Sometimes when you're soo close, you miss the warning signs. It's quite unfortunate.
