Nicole Richie arrested for DUI in LA


BURBANK, Calif. -        Nicole Richie was arrested early Monday for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol, authorities said.  :drink  :drink

California Highway Patrol officers took Richie, 25, into custody without incident after she failed a field sobriety test, CHP Officer Todd Workman said. :guns

Her black Mercedes sport utility vehicle was stopped in the car pool lane of State Highway 134 when officers arrived.

Authorities said they received 911 calls about a car going the wrong way on the freeway and the car matched the description of Richie's. :beat  :fouet


Hmmm, a few fries short of a Happy Meal if you ask me. :stupid

Nicole Richie Wrongly Arrested For DUI?

Young Hollywood star, Nicole Richie has been accused and taken into custody for drunk driving after she was spotted driving the wrong way on the 134 Highway.

Just like most of her popular friend, the 25-year-old “Simple Life” star has been arrested on suspicion driving under the influence but in fact, she smoked marijuana.

A message left with Richie's publicist wasn't immediately returned.

According to California Highway Police, the skinny starlet was spotted by some motorists early Monday, driving her SUV in the wrong direction on a Burbank highway. Burbank is 10 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.

Police was alerted and had her pull over. The officers found the starlet alone in the vehicle and reportedly talking on her cell phone. She was arrested at about 4:50 a.m.

Apparently, Richie instead she wasn’t under the influence but she had smoked some marijuana and taken Vicodin. A preliminary alcohol screening device revealed that Richie was not under the influence of alcohol.

She was booked in Glendale and was cooperative," agent John Balian of the local police force said. Her booking sheet revealed she is 5'1" and weights just 85 lbs. Richie was bailed out at 7:17 a.m. for a $15,000 bail.

The adoptive daughter of singer Lionel Richie is no stranger to substance abuse. In 2003 she was arrested and charged with possession of heroin. She pleaded guilty and the charges were dismissed after she completed the terms of her probation.

Since then, Richie wh dropped to around 90 lbs, has been to rehab and also undergone some treatment in October for her weight disorder.

"She is working with a team of doctors and specialists whose focus is nutrition," Richie's rep said in a statement at the time. "It is important to Nicole that she achieves this goal in a healthy way as this is not a treatment for an eating disorder."

Her friend and co-star, Paris Hilton, was also arrested and charged for DUI several months ago.

Damn!  Good thing it was Marajuana and not alcohol.........Does she even know how many calories are in alcohol???  :eek

5" 1" and 85#  Holy Moly!  My 7 1/2 yr. old boy is 4' 3" and weighs almost 70#........But then, he is perfect..... :D

I think an intervention is in order before some permanent damage is done here.....................Seriously, Lionel, Dude, Hellooooooo..........Its cheaper than a funeral........... :(

I caught a glimpse of a program tonight.  I have no idea the name or even on what channel.  Anyway, she ran out of gas in, I think, the same SUV.  It showed her getting out of it and walking back to another awaiting black SUV. :rotflmao
