If I have the cash that would make a neat project if all the hardware is in good shape like you said. I would get rid of the blower(if it's still on it) and just put a nice built big block it and go have some fun. |
I looked into it, no block or rotating assembly it used to have a blown motor in it, he has a rebuilt Banks twin turbo setup never ran, fresh Merlin heads and intake and a bunch of other stuff, just need to build a short block, it used to have a 10* bronze junk strut, now he has a new Bergeron steel 7 1/2* drop thru strut and rudder not installed, so, the the recess for the bolt on strut has to be filled in and all holes plugged up, hole for the shaft log has to be plugged up since the prop shaft will come through the floor further forward the fins will have to be moved forward also, so the bottom has to plugged up completely and start over, now if you're into glass work that's a piece a cake, holes in the stringers will need to be plugged up since the v-drive and engine will have to re aligned due to new strut angle, nothing complicated just takes a bit of time, but if you're not into glass work then there's the expense to get that done, it is a cool project and a pretty easy one, but you'll have to turn the boat over to plug the bottom up and install the hardware.
I sold the Spectra to my buddy that put the stringers in, after I turned it over and checking the bottom I found out that it's gonna take a good 20-30hrs of filling and grinding to straighten the bottom out, and he don't have the time to do it before summer, when I told him that he offered to buy it so I'm breaking even on it, I thought about the Hondo until I found out about the glass work. But if you can handle that project go for it, it's a good price for it, there's a lot of high dollar parts there to make a real cool dual purpose cruiser.
