Michael Vick Suspected Of Toting Marijuana Inside Custom Water Bottle

January 18, 2007 10:08 a.m. EST
Pete Flies - All Headline News Sports Reporter

Atlanta, GA (AHN) - Passing through airport security, Michael Vick was reportedly reluctant to give up a 20-ounce water bottle, which eventually made its way into the hands of airport security. Vick's hesitation to hand over the bottle apparently piqued the curiosity of security guards on the scene. The bottle was discovered to have a false-bottom and inside the small storage compartment was a small substance with a "pungent aroma" that suggested Vick was hiding marijuana.

At this time, charges have not been filed, as the bottle and substance must undergo further analysis. The incident occurred at Miami International Airport on Wednesday morning.

A Falcons spokesperson said, "We plan to look into the matter and discuss it with Michael Vick before having any further comment."

The 2006 season was a bumpy ride for Vick as he dealt with a barrage of questions about his ability to win while his receivers continued to fan his frustrations by dropping many catchable passes. The stress of the season culminated after a loss at home, in an incident which ended up costing Vick $10,000.

The boo birds in Atlanta got a chance to see Michael Vick's dirty bird, as the quarterback gave the middle finger to hecklers after the hometown Falcons were beaten by the New Orleans Saints 31-13.

He told the AP, "I would have never thought that six years into my career I would ever do something like that." He added, "It will never happen again. Never."

As for what the male fan in the bleachers had said to prompt his reaction, Vick admitted that "It was very inappropriate" and that the person said "things I won't say in front of a camera."

Before that game was played, Vick was accused of being a "coach-killer," or in other words, being a real pain in the neck. The accusation rankled Vick.

Jim Mora Sr, the father of Vick's now former coach, Jim Mora Jr, made negative comments about Vick on a Fox Sports radio program in November . Mora Sr. was asked if Vick was a "coach killer" by one of the show's hosts, and the elder Mora agreed with the assessment.

Vick finished the season with a 52.6 percent completion rate and 2,474 yards. He threw 20 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions. No quarterback can scramble like Vick. He gained 1,039 yards rushing in 2006, marking the first time in NFL history any quarterback had topped the 1,000 yard plateau.

Atlanta finished the season at 7-9. They started 5-2, but finished the season by losing seven of their final nine.
