Ok, first off I am a regular here but made a new screen name for this post. Its a serious matter that I needed to get off my chest cuz I'm bustin at the seams but I want to keep it confidential as possible for the time being to protect my friend.
Please do not try to find out who I am, and/or if you feel so overwhelmingly compelled to do so I ask that it be kept confidential.(for those IP guru's out there)
:(
A close friend of mine tried to commit suicide last year. A mother of one young boy and a loving husband by her side.
Ever since the birth of her son(now 3) she had apparently felt she'd lost her self worth. She seemed to loose the love she had inside and didn't know how to give it any longer. Nothing mattered and facing friends was a monumental challange.
I attended her 40th b'day party, she seemed normal to me yet something dark was burning inside her.
Not long after this party she snuck out of her house while the son and husband slept, drove a ways down a freeway, stopped and tried twice to jump in front of an oncoming semi. 1st one honked and she jumped back, second attempt she stayed out, the truck swerved and slammed on the brakes.
She got knocked down by the truck and run over, her legs/feet coming to rest under the rear wheels.
3/4 of a year has past since this day, she is not able to walk much at all and is wheelchair bound most of the time. In the first months since the accident she still wanted to die, but since has been treated for chemical imbalances and now recovering at a snail pace. She is on the mend and has her positive attitude back.  Apparently God had a different plan for her.
I've had her and her family as guests to the river, something she'd always loved. She has an open invite to join me again.
One thing she did find out through this ordeal is who her real friends were. :(
So thank you all for letting me get this out, and if you can add her to your prayers I'm sure it will only help. Ask your Lord to help Blondie through this difficult time.
Thanks y'all.

So, what's next? Now that you have it off your chest do you feel better?
Now what can be done to make her feel better ?....about herself, her life?
She has at least one friend who was deeply moved by all of this to take the time to post this.....and that's a good thing.

And one good thing...

...leads to another.

God bless you both.  :peace

Not so much for me to feel better, but if I can generate some extra prayers on her behalf then I think I'm helping.
9 months into this she finally gave in with the truth, up til now I was led to believe she was "just" in a car accident.
I wish I could have helped her more early on if I'd known, more visits and calls. Now I'm doing what I can.
.
Thanks GM :good

Well she is in my prayers.

It is a shame she had to go through so much physical and emotional pain, but thank God she is alive and is getting help. :good

While some suicides are caused by the agony of physical pain, it is hard for many of us to understand how painful emotions can be as well. :(

Rationalizing with a person with suicidal thoughts many times does not work as they are not thinking rationally. :stupid Of the half dozen suicides near to me, most of them are still not understandable by me.  I wonder how many of these cases were caused by a chemical imbalance?  :stupid

Thanks Had2vent for caring so much and for being such a good friend. :good

Hang in there. :peace Hopefully, the worst is over.

I dont know what gets people so down..? i know everyone has issues, and usually around the holidays it gets worse.

i've had to relieve one of my troops of his weapon for making "life threatening" or comments that he could do something to harm himself or others.

I dont understand... life is so fragile to start with.

Plus this from someone who has the God given ability to bring a human LIFE into this world... and she cant find her self worth...?
How much more valuable can that be...?

Please give this person all the love and hugs and prayers and happy thoughts she can take, and let her know that there are people that value "HER" to the extent that they would give their LIVES to keep her safe, without ever knowing her name....!!!!

Thankfully she wasnt successfull in her efforts, and this will open her eyes to see that she is LOVED and WANTED.

I hope she finds a way to clear these thoughts and see life for what its worth and the wonderful gift that SHE is to this world and all those around her.

Bless you all...
hug someone when you get a chance....
a good hug goes a long long way.

:peace

I got to thinking about your post on my drive home. Something rang a bell. Now, I'm not a doctor (but I play one on TV).

What you wrote describes post partum depression to a T.

Read this and tell me what you think:

Thank you fellas.
Her husband knew something wasn't right with her and had admitted her to be evaluated. Because she wasn't admitted by a doc she was able to check herself out and said she didn't need it.
Wasn't long after that she took her fateful freeway jaunt.
.
I don't know the exact diagnosis, but chemical imbalance is what I was told and is being treated. She seems to be doing ok and no longer has the desire to end it all.
Right now is a bit hard because she's not very mobile and has just completed the first week of being home alone since the accident. Her parents and husband have now gone back home and work, respectively. That's how dedicated the hubby was, he left work for ~9 months to care for her(and son) exclusively.
