So Zigmund or anyone else :D On the 87 325I whats the deal on the power door locks. Is there no manual switch or a way to unlock the car if it is having intermitent problems using the key in the door lock cylinder to trip the accuators. The kids car will not unlock sometimes  :beat  :break

Beemers are ok, till you need to get them worked on.
$165 for an oil change...?
$800 for a water pump...?
and the top still leaks after the 3rd trip to the dealer...

some of the bulletin boards for BMW owners might have good info... worth the time to look into it.  imo

My wife had her eyes on the new Z4. Then she found out she would have to drive to Phoenix or San Diego for a $200 oil change. She is looking at a 350Z now. :good

Prolly the key. They get worn. My son-in-law's a Locksmith - his diagnosis.

Do your doors unlock when you unlock the trunk? Good to know as back-up. That's what he tells folks to do til he can get around to them.  :D

It may be the lock mech is slightly worn and the actuator may be out of adjustment.
Try having him unlock the car with the trunk lock. I have seen the trunk actuator be misaligned causing weird operation of the lock system.
Does he lock the car all the way to the deadbolt position(key removed in horizontal position) ?
.
Overall it sounds like a bad actuator and/or adjustment to me.

I have heard him talk about the deadbolt position he used it once or twice when the key got stuck in the lock. I'll ck the trunk lock operation, its pretty intermitent of course so sounds like a little TLC is in order :break

Thanks Zig.

No Kiddin? That would make a difference. The MSRP on the Nissan she built on-line was only a few $k less than the convertible Z4. Do you know of any good Beemer dealers in the Phoenix Metro area? :D
