To follow-up on Shue's post about those pesky mussels found in Lake Mead, California has been inspecting the aqueduct and last week two divers died.
You can read the whole story here: http://www.pe.com/localne....77.html
Looks like they will be inspecting boats at the agricultural checkpoints.
"The California Department of Fish and Game and the California Department of Food and Agriculture, meanwhile, are continuing to inspect boats coming back into California from the Colorado River at agriculture checkpoints, including one near Barstow, said Troy Swauger, a Fish and Game Department spokesman."
Sooooo, clean your boat!

Storage places will be at a premium.... I'm thinking some of the costs to restart inspections and fund the "mussel wars" will be passed through the DFG...and ultimately down to the recreational boating community as well...

From the little that I've read, I would expect it.... a quick surface check AND a look inside that your bilge is dry....might as well leave the "plug" loose or out until you launch...

Think about the Vidal Junction Inspection station......I've rarely seen them out of their seats in the last several years. |
Yeah, they might have to wake up from their naps from time to time, darnit!!

Typical of the bottoms on larger boats that live in the water back east. Â |
Did you see some of the shots of the "inards"... them things were all through the plumbing...

Everytthing I have seen so far is that they attach themselfs to things that don't move very often. With all the activity at the launch ramp will they still attach to trailers and there boats that quick?

They travel in water and on the weeds/grasses...their spores (or whatever the're called) are what is spreading to new areas.
A dry bilge/hull and a clean trailer is all ya need...so I've read. If you use lake water for boat plumbing, be sure to flush out those lines as well.
