I don't really mind working, I just don't like what I do... :D A million would buy a decent house and pay all the bills, so everything I make would be gravy... I could go do something I like.

10 Million to retire and do nothing... at least... :D

I would think a Million(tax free) would keep me right about where I am now, with a little more travel involved. At 5 million it would be hard to find me, I would be in an RV all over the place :beer

a Million in a 5% yield acct would make you ~50g's annually. Not bad if there are not other revolving monthly bills to handle aside from basic needs.
If frugile you can buy a new car every couple years.
.
I think it very possible to make your money work for you but you need a strong balance to start with to make it work.

I had to go back and re-read the question. I guess it would only be about $2M, because that is what I'm working towards (or the equivilent of) for my retirement.

Having said that, when the mega million lotto was up around $350M my mind went off. Dreamin' of how I would spend/invest it. Cars, boats, planes and escorts. How the kids would be set. All of my siblings too. Attorneys to keep the ex wife off of my jock. You know all of the usual stuff.  :laugh

5 million tax free. I'm young...I'd be bored if I were home all the time. And I like to work. But the money would let me work my dream "hobby", pay the bills, travel when I want, help my mom out more financially, and keep Sleek busy :D

4mil tax free would do it.  Take 1mil and pay everthing off and maybe a new vehicle or 2.  Get a couple of toys and a place to store them. Then kick back with the last 3mil.  :D

Probably 4-5 million.  I once figured about 3 million to retire @55 and I'm quite a few years away from that.  Plus, I like to travel.

1 mil would pay off everything, but 2 mil I could sit around the house, 3 mil., I would be traveling around here and there, 4 mil.+, I would disappear......
