Oil pressure in my Vdub motor?
Tried the pump priming idea.......fresh oil and a few other things.
I'm frustrated :(
Took valve cover off to double check it and no oil being pumped there when running....... :banghead  :banghead

Does it have an aftermarket Cooler/filter set up?? Have you checked the lower screen for blockage?? Where are you testing for pressure??

Is this in a car (vw) or a sandrail, Cuz I'm into the vw buses and bugs, but don't know much about them, but I do curz around the samba website.

I think I found the problem with my OP...........wrong oilpump. It was not engaging the camslot so it wasn't turning at all.

I called someone that I know that has worked on alot of VW's. He was scratchin his head, because he said it should have oil pressure somewhere even if it has bad gears in the oil pump...

Good to hear you finally tracked down the culprit.  One of those elusive things that after you finally find it you go, DOH!

What I learned was that for the 71 model year they changed the style of camshaft gear to what is known as dished. Everything prior to 71 has a flat cam gear. The oilpump engages at the end of the camshaft so with it being dished its about 1/8-1/4 inch deeper, therefore the end of the oilpump shaft doesn't reach the slot in the camgear.

with a little less than 3 qrts it wouldn't leak for very long :D
Its from the oil cooler area, can't tell yet if the cooler itself is leaking or the seals...........find out whenever I feel like pulling the fan housing/doghouse.
