What's all the buzz about...?? Â
Bee-ware Of Cell Phones USA - Hard to believe, but there’s a new theory out there that explains why honey bees are disappearing by the millions. Some respected scientists say the cell phone may be the primary culprit, ultimately also being responsible for major food shortages, as the world's harvests fail. Why? The radiation given off by the mobile phones and other hi-tech gadgets interferes with the bees' navigation systems, preventing the species from finding its way back to the hives.
Recently, the abrupt disappearance of the bees that pollinate crops has been a huge mystery. The malady is called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD.) It takes place when the hive's inhabitants suddenly disappear, leaving only queens, eggs and a few worker bees. The problem has now hit half of all American states. The West Coast is thought to have lost 60% of its commercial bee population. Most of the world's crops depend on pollination by bees. Albert Einstein once said if the bees disappeared, "man would have only four years of life left."
A study at Landau University has found that bees refuse to return to their hives when mobile phones are placed nearby. The studies are limited so far, but cell phones appear to be a possible cause.

Whatever! I have hives in two of the pepper trees in my front yard. One tree is right next to the walkway. We have battled these things for 8 years. and paid good $$ to have "professionals" get rid of them. I guess I'll just have Jeff talk out on the front porch more and they won't be able to find their way home. We can tag team it, heck, get the teenager in on it!
Anyone wanna help? We could make a party out of it and just stand around talking on our cell phones to each other, then my bee problem would be solved!
For some reason, I don't think that's gonna work. Wonder how much $$ was wasted on this study. Probably enough to run and feed an entire African nation.

Oh, and in case some of you didn't know, the pic Doug posted is of the Unibomber--Ted Kazynski (sure I spelled that wrong). He was a professor at one time, before he went wacko.
