I asked what the procedure was for someone found with muscles.  They said that their boat would be sprayed with high pressure sprayer at the station and written up, and boat quaranteened.  The quaranteen would vary some by area of the boat owners location.  The tempterture has something to do with it.

At the end of the quaranteen the boat owner is to clean their boat and set an appointment with a fish and game officer for a personal inspection.  If the boat is found to be clean then the quaranteen is lifted and if not the process starts all over again.

Again, just make sure and pull the drain plug and leave it out so the inside can dry.  And, give your boat a quick check after takeing it out of the water.  People who leave their boats in for long periods of time are more prone to have muscles.

Appears that he kept his head above the water line though  :laugh
.
I might give that a shot myself, I know I could use a few muscles......but I'm skeered the mussels might attach themselves to my steering rod and I'd end up getting a high pressure steam bath.. :D :D

Thanks for the great link Shueman.  I have a friend who found them on his boat and he went to car wash and washed his boat and then gave it a acitone bath on the lower side and then waxed his boat.

I appears that he got on top of his broblem himself.  He rents storage in Parker and keeps his boat their.

From what I know, which ain't much, the larvae are in the water and need to attach themselves to a solid service to begin to grow.

Don't think they would attach themselves to a driveline and develop to that size in just a few days in the lake, BUT... :beat  :stupid

Something else I just read....If you let your dog swim in the lake, you'd better give it a bath and a good brushing BEFORE you leave town.  The larvae can easily attach themselves to the dog's coat.... :eek
