Everyone have a safe and fun holiday.  For those going out on the water, watch out for the crazies.  For those driving somewhere... watch out for the crazies... :D

And take a moment on Monday to remember what this three day weekend is really all about... Thanks to all those that have and are serving this country, and those that have sacrificed so we can enjoy living in the greatest country in the world...

Heard on the radio about a New England Patroit player losing his life in a PWC accident.... :(   Wasn't wearing a PFD.... :eek

NEW ORLEANS -- The body of New England Patriots player Marquise Hill was found Monday, a state official said, a day after he was reported missing following a jet ski accident on Lake Pontchartrain.

Hill's body was discovered by searchers about a quarter-mile from where the former LSU star and a female companion were involved in the accident, Capt. Brian Clark of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Department said.

"The family will have to make positive identification," Clark said, "but the body we found was that of Mr. Marquise Hill."

The Coast Guard was called Sunday night, Petty Officer Tom Atkeson said. The search began immediately, using boats and helicopters.

By the time the body was found, the Coast Guard, Wildlife and Fisheries, the New Orleans Police Department and Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department were involved, Clark said.

Hill's body was taken to the Orleans Parish Coroner's office, but phone messages left there were not immediately returned.

Hill's agent, Albert Elias, said he had been told Hill and a young woman were jetskiing Sunday in the lake when both of them went into the water, which had a strong current. Elias said the woman was able to make it to a pylon and hang on until she was rescued, while Hill was last seen floating away from the scene.

Hill played on LSU's national championship team and was a second-round draft pick by New England in 2004.

"We are all shocked," Patriots owner Robert Kraft said in a statement.

The woman, whose identity was not available Monday morning, was rescued and sent to Tulane Medical Center where she told them Hill had tried to keep her calm as the two were drifting away from each other.

Neither Hill nor the woman wore a life preserver, Atkeson said.

"It's so important to have a life jacket and a signaling device," Atkeson said. "One keeps you afloat and the other helps us find you."

Elias said Hill, a defensive end, spent much of his time since Hurricane Katrina helping family members rebuild their homes.

This weekend was one I would like to forget.  We were at the zoo hanging out at 3 dunes...well, my 9yr old nephew decided to take off his flip flops(1st & last mistake) when all of a sudden he started screaming and jumped into the lake.  He said his foot was burning...I looked at it and it was bright red, blistering and skin was peeling off...turns out some idiot buried hot coals just under the sand and my nephew was standing on top of them...we rushed him over to Cattail cove but the Rangers really couldn't do anything..so we loaded up the boat (in record time..for me anyway) and hauled arse to Havasu Memorial...he ended up w/2nd and possibly 3rd degree burns on his foot...Definately a tough lesson learned  :cry

Thanks.  We appreciate everyone's support.    I agree that people are morons and should douse their fires w/water or something...However, we should have been more cognicant (sp) as well and made sure he was wearing his shoes so we're partly to blame.  Anyway, I talked to my nephew today (he went to the dr) and he is doing really well.  He can't move his toes so there is a little concern about that, but the Dr's say he should heal up fine.

THE STATS ARE IN.... :cool

Holiday weekend described as ‘family friendly'

By DAVID BELL
Tuesday, May 29, 2007 10:16 PM MST

Police Chief Dan Doyle said the atmosphere in the Bridgewater Channel during Memorial Day weekend has become more “family friendly.”

Doyle and Fire Chief Dennis Mueller outlined their departments' activity this past weekend during a news conference Tuesday at the Police Facility.

Doyle said the jail logged 327 arrests starting at 12:01 a.m. Friday and ending at midnight Monday, but only one-third of the arrests occurred in the Bridgewater Channel.

Doyle said credit goes to a pair of factors. The Police Department stationed officers and one boat in the Channel's north end for the first time during a holiday weekend. And the department made extensive use of a combined command trailer with cameras that provided a clear view of the south Channel.

“With a number of incidents on camera, we would see an argument start and could direct officers there before it escalates,” Doyle said. “And we got great feedback from families that appreciated the north Channel unit. They said it made a big difference this year.”

There were 293 adults arrested and 34 juveniles. Fifty-six were from Lake Havasu City, 11 from other parts of Arizona and 126 from California. The remainder did not fall in the previous three categories.

Alcohol-related offenses - DUI, drinking in public, open containers in restricted areas, etc. - made up 224 of the arrests, with 147 of those arrested for underage consumption.

There were 42 disorderly conduct arrests and 27 for possession of marijuana or drug paraphernalia. There were three arrests for indecent exposure and two aggravated assaults.

“The number of fights and indecent exposures is on the decrease,” Doyle said. “The behavior ordinance is coming into play.”

Offensive conduct in public places, also known as the behavior ordinance, took effect in August and applies to all public places, not just the Channel and Lake Havasu. It gives officers greater flexibility by placing indecent exposure, public intoxication, violent acts and abusive or obscene language into a single city ordinance.

Mohave County Sheriff's Office also released statistics from its efforts on Lake Havasu and the Colorado River during the holiday weekend.

There were seven boating accidents, only two with minor injuries. MCSO deputies issued 72 safety violations, 11 reckless operation citations and arrested 18 for OUI. There were 11 more arrests for minor consumption of alcohol, disorderly conduct and endangerment.

Deputies also provided 24 boater assists, 14 assists to other agencies and issued 89 violation warnings.

“Overall, the weekend was great with no fatalities or serious accidents to report,” MCSO spokeswoman Trish Carter said in a prepared statement.

Mueller said the Lake Havasu City Fire Department responded to 126 calls for service, 53 emanating from the Channel or the lake area. There were four structure fires and three vehicle accidents.

“The good news is we had no fatalities this holiday weekend,” Mueller said. “We did have one air evac (transported via helicopter) to Las Vegas from a car accident and one air evac because of burns suffered in a barbecue explosion.”

Mueller said the Fire Department got good use of its new fire boat, a 30-foot custom-built vessel by Munson Boats. In between calls for service on the lake, Mueller said he sent members of the department, including himself, out to train on the watercraft.

“It was a good chance to train on actual maneuvers,” Muller said.
