Washing a child's hand's before his first birthday will take away his riches and would live and die poor.

"On your birthday (the actual day or days before but
NEVER EVER days AFTER), you have to partake a feast of
good food including longevity noodles (egg noodles) to
symbolise long life with happiness, health and wealth."

In searching, the Noodles deal pops up alot, your supposed to eat them last instead of cake, so say the Chinese :alien

Ziggy went and got superstitious on us. It's not your birthday. It's a time to celebrate your birthday. And maybe it's just an excuse to spend some time with you. Go out and enjoy. Just don't walk under any ladders on the way.

Anytime my mother-in-law wants to take me to dinner it's bad luck, especially for my birthday! Ya see; she's Jehovah's Witness and if she's tryin' to buy me dinner, whether for my birthday or whatever, I always have the wife taste my meal first. I suspect that she is still out to get me for what I have done to her baby girl! Ya'd think she would understand that we're married and it WAS only two kids! Sheesh.... :p

Go for the steak. Less sauce to hide the poison in....and don't forget to bring your own steak sauce if you use any. :good
