Batten down the hatches!  Not quite sure what that means literally, but that's what my dad would always say when we were boat camping during the monsoons as a kid.

Boat Hatch

To "batten down the hatches" is to close and lock all hatches due to adverse weather to prevent rough seas from entering and possibly sinking the vessel. :good Just tryin' to help.

We had probably the best time ever, if that's possible!  :jumpie

Everything went well, kids got along, adults got along  :D

We were hanging out at our usual beach on the AZ side on Saturday and were planning on breakfast in Topock and a run to the sandbar when up comes a guy in a big a$$ Mastercraft and unloads a bunch of teenage boys......they unload a bunch of stuff, among which was a big gas powered pump and a huge "Slip & Bleed"!  :good

They set it up on one of the small bluffs and it ran all the way down into the river. The kids all had a blast all day long.

I'm waiting for a friend to send me pics.....someone forgot the camera! :banghead  Remembered the camera bag, just didn't look inside.  :beat

Almost as bad as getting out there and pulling out the camera only to find that you left the memory card in the reader at home.  :banghead

I have a small "boat camera" that was boosted by my daughter when she took hers to the beach and got sand in it :beat

Statement as of 3:28 PM MDT on July 18, 2007


The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
east central Pima County in south central Arizona...
this includes the cities of... Tucson... Oro Valley...

* until 430 PM MST

* at 324 PM MST... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in excess
of 60 mph. This storm was located 15 miles east of Tucson... and
moving west at 5 mph.

* Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to
Saguaro National Park east... Sabino Canyon... Vail... Tucson
International Airport... South Tucson... Rita ranch... Davis-monthan
Air Force base... Catalina State Park and Catalina Foothills.

In addition to some hail and damaging winds... cloud to ground
lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately!
Lightning is one of natures number one killers. Remember... if you
can hear thunder... you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

This storm will produce damaging winds and blowing dust. Be prepared
for sudden changes in visibility and wind gusts of 60 mph or greater.
