Guest book spammers...........SUCK! :guns

For the last year or two, our guest book submissions were filtered through a third party to combat spam.  It cut spam by around 99%. :good  It did this by requiring a "human" type in a random security code before submitting.  This way automated systems could not sign the guest book.

This did not stop anyone who manually signed the page though.  Every once in a while, I had to manually delete entries.

This morning, I removed the third party filtering entirely and wrote my own security code system.  Now when someone signs the guest book, it is not automatically posted. :jumpie It is placed "on hold" for review by me before it gets posted. :D Since most submissions, by far, are spam, I don't have to do anything to maintain it. When I get an email regarding a legitimate submission, I will allow it to be posted.  :D Since the spammers submissions will never make it to the web from our guest book, many of them will give up. :jumpie

When I was testing it out this morning, one of the entries that got blocked said "Why did you delete my posts?" :stupid  :bebe  :rotflmao
