Well, The wife was out at a auction yesterday, and the guy was a old car guy, he all kinds of old stuff, and it was going cheap, she got me some old gas and oil cans, and some old big boys stuff, but there were some old milk cases fill with maps, so I going though all these old maps, Road maps, And found a AZ state map, well I stared to look at it, and notice I-40 is not on it nor is I-17 or the I-10, hell Lake havasu city is not even on it, the Island is not there either, just a stump sticking out from land, NO Chanal, and lots of DIRT roads, So I found a date on it, 1940, is that cool or what, I'm going to get me a big glass frame to put it in, and hang it o the wall.

Thats cool!!!  The Island in Havasu wasn't formed untill the London bridge was built in the early 70's.

Lawbreaker, you need to keep that cool map.  So when you move to AZ you will have a permenant record of what the state really was.  It is time to start packing!

I'm going to try and take some pic's with the wifes camra and post them tonight or this week, I have a party to go to later so well see. But ya this is a way cool find, It has a chevron gas station marker on the front and RPM motor oil's logo.

Thats a very cool pic, I don't think I have ever seen that one, Did you know that in 1940 there were 499,261 people living there, and in glendale, there were 4,855 people, and 7,224 in mesa, Any other town you would like to know, And don't ask about havasu, wasn't there yet.

I love seeing those old pics. I've found some old maps before too from back in the days when mom and dad would take their annual 2 week vacation....
another trivial fact I learned a while back: Up by the I-40 bridge is the silver pipe that crosses the river, the structure that holds that pipe is actually the original Route66 bridge  :)
