I pulled the transfer case on my wifes tahoe today. What a bitch. The hardest part was removing the cross member.
Has anyone ever removed the second cross member that has the torsion bars in it. I'd like to remove it when I reinstall the transfer case, but I don't want to screw it up. It has adjustment bolt's on it and I don't want to get the bars out of wack.

As far as the Torsion bars... I Â keep track of the number of turns it takes to loosen the bars, then on the go back tighten them down that many turns... it works... Â you have to put a little mark on the socket so you can count the number of revolutions though...
A couple more things... if you are going to completely remove them from the truck, mark them as to left and right. Â Also, mark the lower control arm so you can index the torsion bar when you re-install it.
